So you dudes who know way more about hockey than me
as a Caps fan should I want the Sabres to win so we play them, or am I right to be scared of them on the basis of Ryan Miller alone
Other options are: Pens, Lightning, Habs. That's three really good goalies and a goalie who has previously carried a team to the finals on his back. So based purely on the goaltending, no.

Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.
Do I bother watching the Canucks game? At this point even if they get past Chicago I see nothing to indicate they will do any better in the next round.
Gonna skip the 1st period and let the results answer my question.

I heard a lot of bullshit statistics and facts slung during the Caps radio broadcast on my car ride home yesterday, but one that stuck out was how infrequently any team which requires more than five games to close out their first round playoff series goes on to win the cup.
It didn't stuck with me enough that I remember the exact percentage, though, so I won't profess to remember it.
Like I said, though, probably bullshit. The other bullshit observation that stuck out was that "it's so important to score the first goal in a playoff game because 66% of the time, the team which scores first goes on to win." That would have been a poignant and powerful observation were it not for the fact that the Rangers had scored first in 2 out of 3 of the Caps' victories to that point in the series, so, you know, maybe tuck that little factoid in your back pocket so you can pull it out at the start of the next round.
I've never been more stressed out or anxious about the first five minutes of a hockey game before. Or any sporting event. For god sakes just don't let a soft goal in three minutes in.
Van needs to score first and they need to score first badly.
EDIT: All of those stats are bullshit, yes. That's the thing about sports. Nothing on paper really matters. You can have only 1 team in history ever win the cup after not shutting out opponents in five games but there can always be a second team to do that.

Ya I don't lend much credibility to sports stats either. Unless it's the Canucks, then my bitterness decree's that they are incapable of success in the playoffs. Ever.
It looks like Schneider is getting the start tonight? Really?
Niemi will start game 6 for San Jose.
These are probably 2 bad decisions.
Sometimes, re: Schneider, I think starting him is a good thing. When he's not coming into a 5-0 game, he's pretty solid. I also think teams (read: Vancouver) fall into a rut when you've got a great goalie to be like, "Lou will take care of us". Vancouver's defense needs to get its head right and maybe not feeling like they can fall back on elite goaltending will help them.
This is all speculative, but I'm willing to let Schneider prove his playoff worth.

I heard all kinds of Chicago bullshit that this two days off is going to mount the pressure and cause them to fold.
I really think it'll be good for them.
I hope it'll be good for them.
Oh God I'm going to shit a brick if they lose.

Yeah, the two days should actually be good for the Canucks. Give them time to recover from their shell shock.
Sounds like Ballard and Oreskovich are going in for Rome and Glass.
Edit: Goalie problems in Philly. Shocking!
Seriously, they have not got that position sorted since Hextall retired in 1999. That is just terrible.

I'm not looking forward to tonights game. Not in the least.

I'm proud.
Whose idea was it to have a 5 PM local start on Easter Sunday in friggin' Tennessee, anyway? And it's not on TV.

Q-Q-Qu-Quintuple post!

Come on Canucks, that monkey on your backs isn't gonna go away on its own. Time to kill the little bugger dead.

Maybe the Canucks are hipsters and they don't even want the cup.
"Oh, hey, the playoffs again... whatever."
edit: Did I use the term "hipster" correctly?

MUAHAHHAHAHA BYE DUCKS WOO!
Too bad I could only listen to it on the radio.
Congrats to Nashville for beating those assholes
Please don't make me regret it.
