All of the PAers in Oklahoma (unless there are some in the far west/east of the state I don't know about) are at a very high tornado risk for the rest of the day. Fun stuff.

edit: Okay so it's around a 70-80% chance of a tornado in the area around OKC/Norman. A wide area, so I'm not really concerned yet.

Closer to 90% around Tulsa for the 2-3 that live there.

I'm currently in sw Tulsa at work. Weather stations says storm should start hitting around 6, when I get off, so I'm hoping I can actually drive home before any real bad weather starts.

Whether a tornado touches down we'll see. Last time I recall one doing that was around 1999 and it hit a mile away from where I am now. Haven't really seen one in north Tulsa yet around my living area.

My sister lives in Joplin. Fortunately she was out of town during the tornado, but everything down there is completely fucked. No cell coverage, no power, etc. Last I heard the death toll was probably going to go up, I don't think they've completely finished pulling people out of the walmart and home depot that both collapsed

    jesus christ this sounds terrible

A couple have already touched down west of OKC, but headed north-northeast. You should be a-okay for now, though.

Is there any chance someone could organize a paypal donation thing or something?

I can't do much, but I'd send as much money as I can.

There's some info on donating here.

I don't know if there are better places to donate to or not.

Donated. I would also be willing to donate some cash directly to Munkus in the event that gets started or he needs it.

My gameplan is grabbing all of my cash, phone charger, phone and maybe a few other things and just bolting for the pantry if something touches down even remotely near us.

Tornado in Joplin upgraded to EF-5. 123 confirmed dead.

The idea of winds over 200mph is fucking crazy.

Wath out if you pantry has a lot of loos stuff in it, your best bet would be a closet that just has clothes or a bathroom with a tub. Small rooms, no windows period, nothing high above your head that is heavy and could fall off.

The Enhanced Fujita Scale (EF Scale) rates the strength of tornadoes in the United States based on the damage they cause.

Implemented in place of the Fujita scale introduced in 1971 by Ted Fujita, it began operational use on February 1, 2007. The scale has the same basic design as the original Fujita scale, six categories from zero to five representing increasing degrees of damage. It was revised to reflect better examinations of tornado damage surveys, so as to align wind speeds more closely with associated storm damage. Better standardizing and elucidating what was previously subjective and ambiguous, it also adds more types of structures, vegetation, expands degrees of damage, and better accounts for variables such as differences in construction quality.

We have a fuck ton of canned food in there. D:

I'll use the hallway closet instead. Coats are fluffy and not deadly.

My neighbors had sleeping bags that they covered their heads with when the storm hit. A few things bounced off it and some other pillows they had set up.

There's just really no telling how it's gonna hit you. Beware the rumbling sound.

I live within earshot of a freight rail, so it's always an exciting time when a storm hits while the train crosses town.

I'm grabbing my pillows and comforter along with a skateboard helmet if they confirm a tornado is coming, I packed a bag as per Munkus' suggestion with clothes, cash phone charger, etc.

If I die, can you get Batman to appear at my funeral?

  • Munkus BeaverMunkus Beaver Registered User, ClubPA regular

Yeah, 3 kids missing in...Deer County?

    2 dead in El Reno.

  • soapofdurdensoapofdurden Registered User
Yeah a bunch of people are on the search for the kids. It got pretty hairy here but we didn't have to take cover. Best of luck to those who still have to go through it.

    Also: fuck tornados.
