Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Our mission is to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories of our lives.
Since 2003, StoryCorps has collected and archived more than 30,000 interviews from more than 60,000 participants. Each conversation is recorded on a free CD to share, and is preserved at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. StoryCorps is one of the largest oral history projects of its kind, and millions listen to our broadcasts on public radio and the web.
They have some absolutely great animated shorts up on youtube that you just have have have to see:
Storycore is great. Isn't it a national thing and the recordings are logged in the library of congress or something?
NPR plays quite a few storycore interviews and they are really pretty damn awesome. Beautiful and crushing things are said. It's always pretty emotional getting a peek at another family or relationship in those intimate moments of vulnerable truth-telling.
Storycorps is great. The only problem I have with it, and not really a fault of the program itself, but NPR likes to play them just as I'm getting into work, which can be inconvenient when the stories are often so touching and emotional.
So I just found out that some anti-same sex marriage group called the Ruth Institute is using cuts from the Danny and Annie interview to "prove" how superior straight marriage is to gay marriage.
Nice. Leave it to the fuckers to ruin a beautiful thing.

Why do shit people always have to pervert good things to their shit ends!?
Fuck that fucking shit - where's my flamethrower and GPS?
ALL TEH CREYES
I don't want to make this thread into a gay rights thread, but man, that one is such a great argument against the arguments against gay marriage*.
*or partnerships.
