    OK.

So this has nothing to do at all with the current government. Gotcha.

Oh for fucks sake, why can't you do your stupid soap box ideas somewhere else? Why does every thread have to have you going off on some weird copy/paste ideology rant?

Oh hey, how did your facebook campaigning go BTW?

Transferring every server over to HTTPS would be ridiculous; the required numbers of developers would be out of this world for your typical mid size Company. It shouldn't even be discussed; it’s completely out of touch with reality.

Developers in Canada, even shitty ones are a lot like Chem Enggs, and Nurses. They are rarely out of work if they choose to be. Where the hell would find this mythical group of developers that would be needed to complete this project?

Policies like this make the Green party seem sane by comparison.

Also, you know what. The government-owned CA (and seriously, a crown corp isn't going to resist the executive, even normal companies probably might not) can just issue duplicate certificates for every site to the government, then the government (after nationalizing the infrastructure for extra control!) does a MITM attack with the duplicate certs on every connection and bam there's no security left.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAcert.org
CAcert.org is a community-driven certificate authority that issues free public key certificates to the public[1] (unlike other certificate authorities which are commercial and sell certificates). CAcert has nearly 150,000 verified users and has issued over 548,000 certificates as of January 2010[update].[2]

These certificates can be used to digitally sign and encrypt email, authenticate and authorize users connecting to websites and secure data transmission over the Internet. Any application that supports the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) can make use of certificates signed by CAcert, as can any application that uses X.509 certificates, e.g. for encryption or code signing and document signatures.

Just convince Microsoft/Mozilla/Google/OpenSSL to include their root certificate in an software update and we're golden. It's just the addition of one file in the program directory.

Then why wasn't that point one instead of "create a new CA?" It seems like CAcert only does individual, not organizational certs, but I could be mistaken.

Of course, this doesn't address any long term issues - once they start scaling up quantum computing chips (a few more years?), all current asymmetric encryption just breaks.

Oh geez, DP, no one hates you (or at least I don't.) I was annoyed with you because what you were saying made no fucking sense, as it looked like you were proposing government action that a conservative government would never do, and proposing it while the conservative government is in charge.

    Erik
  • Disco11Disco11 Registered User regular
DP, how do you get through your days with all these ideas bouncing around up in there? It's like you read the news, see an article and fixated on on idea in it no matter how far fetched and out of touch it is.

Also, after your multi-page rant's in the last thread you didn't run, did you? Can I ask you why?

Actually, many of the Conservatives on their FB defended me against the fundies for being gay. If Harper ever took action on abortion or gay marriage, the libertarian wing would revolt.

Even on posts where I was calling the Harper Majority illegitimate, they were asking me to join their party because they liked my view (aside from my hate on Harper) and the fact I was a small c-conservative.

The secret agenda doesn't exist. It's more of a secret restraining order to keep the fundies in check and to keep the libertarian Red Tories from breaking off again. The core split between the Blue and Red Tories is the real reason for Harper's authoritarianism.

The party is in constant threat of a caucus revolt, especially now that they have a majority and don't have to worry about elections. The Red Tories and libertarians LOATHE the Blue Tories and the social conservatives. The Libertarians on their FB page actually attacked me for advocating "Christian Democracy", as an example of European Conservativism, because it had the word "Christian" in it.

As soon as they feel that Harper is unneccessary, they will eat Harper alive like Scar and the Hyenas from the Lion King. Especially since all the new seats in the GTA are held by soild Red Tories.

PS Clement only tweets as much as he does because Twitter is the only way he can get around the PMO. ;)

The secret agenda doesn't exist because it's not a secret.

It's an agenda though. It's not like the defunding of various women's rights groups is a fucking coincidence or something.

I, on the other hand, am something new that the Red Tories would eventually like to try. ;)
    :winky:

Don't feel like you have to keep leaving. Just dial back the self-importance. There's a real discussion of value that can be had on the issues you take on. Unfortunately, I think it is one of many real discussions of value that our government would rather not have.

Ya, the Red Tories force the Blue Tories to placate the fundies through inaction only, like letting contracts expire and shit.

You'll only see Harper doing stuff like this by just doing nothing. As that's all his party will let him do.

This meaningless semantic difference doesn't change anything for the women's rights groups who are being defunded.

Nor is it meaningful for what actions Harper takes.

He's clearly displayed he doesn't give a shit about women's rights.

No you won't you've said it at least 4 times now that you would stop doing this inane shit. And if you're a politician you're the shittiest one I've ever seen. You sound like a hyper 16 year old who would fix the entire world if only they would listen to his brilliance.

Wanna stop it? Bitch at the Red Tories. Especially Clement and the new GTA MPs. If we try hard enough, we could likely split the party within 2 years.

Or we could just eliminate the Conservatives all together.

Fuck anyone who teams up with scum like that to get ahead.

They've already shown they don't give a shit enough about the issue by prioritizing getting a majority government over it.

I think it's awesome that you've got Tony Clement's ear. I felt really bad for him when he had to defend the end of the mandatory census because it was obvious he wasn't a fan of the idea. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to the long-overdue return of right wing vote-splitting.

Except you know... they do listen to me.

Citation Needed. Actual proof too, not finding an article somewhere and saying "See!! That was my idea for realsies!"

Forgive me. I *am* a politician. Being self-important is my job.

But I will try to dial it down.

Where to start... You are not a politician. You didn't run in this or any election. You have Clement's ear as much as the crazy guy at the grocery store that is shouting that Harper is a space alien has mine. Just because he is to polite to tell you to jump off a cliff doesn't mean that he listen's to you.

No one has asked you to stay here. And if you want a topic full of your self important claptrap make one. We're pretty obviously not interested in your spamming this topic and have said so repeatedly in the past. Or do you forget that the prior topics don't cease to exist because we moved to the next one?

Here's a question for you, hawkbox: Why do you clearly feel so threatened by anyone who makes an argument in favor of something outside of the status quo?

I mean, you never make any arguments, you don't try to demonstrate that the ideas are unfeasible and you don't offer any of your own original thoughts or counter-proposals. You just call them names, go on a broken-record rant about how crazy they must be and try to shut them up.

That's not how an argument or debate works. That's just a bullying tactic used for censorship.

Take a look at say, Phyphor's post, then look at yours, and try to re-think how you should approach talking with other human beings.

    Yes, I am still angry

Have you not read the two previous locked threads he has spammed inane links into? Yeah maybe I am being rude but there is no damned reason for him to have multiple posts in a row just copying and pasting links about how awesome he is. He has been called on it on two previous times that I know of and then when the next topic starts because the previous one hit the lock he starts all over again.

The reason I'm not trying to be friendly about this is because he doesn't fucking learn. There is no damned reason to spam like he does but he seems to get off on it and why should I be nice to him when he does that? He can say whatever he wants, but don't be surprised when I point out that he's acting like a self important asshole. Hell you're calling me out and I'm not pouting about it.

What would you like me to argue? That he's still spamming his online plans for how awesome his internet is going to be? Or are you either forgetting or not aware of his previous exploits? http://forums.penny-arcade.com/showthread.php?p=18854755
