Yeah, the Mac Pros have always been a gigantic fucking ripoff. To an extent, so are the MacBook Pros. iMacs, however, are pretty reasonably priced for what you get.

How many people even buy Mac Pros? I've never seen one outside of an Apple Store.

First time I tried it was pretty cute.

A couple of my friends moved out to California after getting married but the wife's family was taking care of their dog while they were apartment hunting. Her brother got an i4 and wanted to try it out so we made a call and he put the dog on and I said it's name and it cocked it's head and put it's big dumb nose up in the camera and it was like 'awwww, I miss that dog'

Major developers and video editors. So, in theory, people who really utilize the specs and are familiar/prefer OSX editing tools over PC ones.

50 dollars for a kinda-slow handcomputer that i have to switch movies around on seems like a pretty good deal to me

But what's more important than that

is my last gen shuffle

and why it is super great and does exactly what I need to for a pretty reasonable price

and how the newest gen is shiny garbage in comparison

and how 16 gig is the highest available so that I will fill it up within a couple of years

and how I don't want an itouch, geez, I bought the shuffle for a reason

and how I hate itunes

I personally still perfer PCs over Macs, and I love my android phone. But that being said I had a Zune for years and it was alright as an MP3 player, by my ipod? It has all the music I own on it, a bunch of great games, and a ton of cool apps. Plus I face time and skype with which is pretty great, I'm like a Jetson.

I just need more apps/games.

Oh, and Weaver I totally get the hipster coffee shop hate. I like to hit the coffee shop to read quietly, no I do not want to hear about your screenplay or why triple roast is better then double roast shut up.

I don't store that much music on my phone. There's apps that will let you stream your music collection from your home PC, there's last.FM, Pandora, etc. Same with video.


And yes, iTunes is a bloated laggy monster.

Yeah itunes sucks, espically compared to the Zune software which was awesome.

I like my phone, but I wish it could tether, I want to have 3g on my ipod everywhere I go

So I went into this Starbucks in Redmond about a year back, cuz I needed to sketch some folks.

There was a dude playing wow on his MacBook using starbucks' free wifi.

Dude was wearing a hoodie that had big huge letters across the back that read "PUNK'S NOT DEAD"

That dude right there, if he had a prius with a bing sticker on it, is the epitome of Redmond

Man I've played around with three major OSes, net books, and iOS and Android.

There's a place and time for each.


I would like to get more hands on time with a Honeycomb tablet, though.

I hear a lot of good things about Honeycomb. I definately want to take it for a spin sometime

I get the impression that honeycomb is going to be better that an iOS tablet.

Or more, it will be better for me.

I just don't think iOS scales very well onto larger screens.

I've yet to be impressed by any tablet computing experience (ipad1/2, motorola xoom, samsung galaxy tab), outside of my beat up lenovo x60 tablet.

I need a keyboard/mouse/stylus if I want to get any serious work done, or a device that I can throw in my pocket if I'm moving around.

It's kind of neat to use it on my couch, but if I'm doing that I'd just take my laptop so I can type at full speed.

I got the iPad 2 a few weeks back and it really is a nice toy. Been using it constantly since I got it, just watching movies and reading books and playing around and whatnot. Really nice using it on my couch and dicking about. Apps I've been using constantly are comiczeal, flipboard, iBooks, kindle, Netflix, hbo go, amazon windowshop, and twitter. Planning on converting a bunch of my tv show DVDs to mp4 soon so I can rewatch at lunch breaks, starting with freaks and geeks and pushing daisies

I've never understood the vitriol for dudes hanging out in places using their laptops

like, sometimes a guy just wants to get out of his house? who said laptops are only allowed to move from the desk to the couch and back again? Sometimes I got a lot of emails to reply to AND a hankering for a BLT or a nice smoothie, and we live in a time where those two things aren't mutually exclusive.
