I too am in that boat, Goose.

Wife took me too it, on the basis that I've already asked her to go to, what, five movies I want to see this year. Ended up laughing my ass through most of it.

Even now all the one-liners are popping up in my head.

Well that was pretty fucking cool.

Also yeah it blows my mind how they went for more realism than cartoon. Given that it was a comic and all

That's like saying the Ninja Turtles reboot was Uncanny Valley

I get the feeling that you don't understand what the Uncanny Vally concept is.

The Uncanny Valley concept is that the more realistic computer generated(or mechanic or whatever) human beings look, the more creeped out we get because oh god that looks human but it isn't

having a dude with a giant cartoonish nose with two equally cartoonish dudes in the background doesn't really mesh with that

Yeah but it's the same in the comics

Haddock and Thompson n' Thompson retain their distinctive features while being adapted to a more realistic world

Tintin did the same, losing the beady eyes but keeping his silly hair thingy

Eyes are one of the most important factors in how human a character looks, though.

Which makes sense since they were going for a more realistic take from the comics but still not photorealistic

you can have a dude with a nose the size of a grapefruit and other odd things as long as the eyes look right

Also, Tintin's hair isn't really that exaggerated. It's nothing you couldn't accomplish with some hair gel.

His appearance at the end of the trailer almost made me a jump a little, considering the background characters were significantly more cartoony-looking than him. It was eerily striking.

It was a really solid trailer, though. I'll probably see this. But I have to assume, at least for me, that it'll take a little ways into the film to get used to the character designs. Kinda like the humans in Toy Story.

Yeah but Tintin's always been the most normal looking dude
    TintinCast1.gif
everyone else has a weird chin or nose or hair or what have you

it makes sense that in a more realistic world Tintin would like like a typical dude, albeit with a crappy haircut
