I admit the costume does look kinda goofy but I'm still going to try and enjoy this movie. At the very least, when they make the eventual sequel, the costume will change.

Considering this movie is being directed by Martin "Made both of the best Bond movies in recent memory and Mask of Zorro" Campbell I have a lot of hope in it being good.
That comic con panel where Ryan Reynolds gave the lantern oath at the request of that
little boy the flashed his ring at him made me love Ryan Reynolds and accept him as Green Lantern, if not Hal Jorden. I'd post it but I'm typing this on my phone.
I will accept Ryan Reynolds as anything because he is awesome

In the movies I've seen Reynolds in he hasn't ever displayed much range.

I really liked him in "Smokin' Aces" even if the rest of the movie was pretty awful and he played a decidedly non comedic character there. And supposedly he's good in "Buried" and "Nines"

The GL movie people sure got creative with the constructs
(it looks like it is from the climactic fight scene in the movie, so some people may not want to see it)
I like Ryan Renolds, hes a nice guy and I like him as an actor in certain roles. I hope he proves himself in this, but I just don't see Hal Jorden in the guy they show in the trailers.

What on Earth was wrong with Smokin' Aces? I can't think of a more quintessentially satisfying popcorn flick.

I think, because I don't read comics, I will enjoy this movie thoroughly.
Being familiar with the source material will always taint it, I think.
Except for Watchmen. I fucking loved that movie and had read the comic before hand.

I am skeptical about this movie for a few reasons. Mainly the epic level of advertising it seems to be getting. It's making the movie feel forced, to me. Granted, it's not a very well known title, and I know that has at least a little to do with it, but I just can't shake the feeling it's being overhyped.
Also, a good friend of mine who is a DC fan claims Ryan Reynolds should be the Flash, not the Green Lantern.
Either way, though, my girlfriend wants to see it, so we'll be going to see it. Probably next Tuesday.
Looking forward to reviews and spoilers in the next few days (love me some spoilers).

it's at 19% on RT right now
you should probably just see Super 8 instead
Super 8 doesn't really do it for me. Not really my genre of preference.
Also, I am broke, so we go see the movies that the person paying (my girlfriend) wants to see, so Super 8 is probably going to have to wait for video.
We'll probably manage to enjoy this, though. She loved all of the Pirates movies, including 4. She thought it was the best since the first, actually.
don't support giving money to shitty movies
also what do you mean, Super 8 isn't your genre
I don't know...it just doesn't seem like the kind of movie I'd want to see?
Also, every time I mention this to someone who wants to see it, they end up responding with, "Nah, it's like...Okay, have you ever seen Goonies?"
damn that's bad

you could just read the RT quotes, you know
like this one from Christy Lemire:
"A joyless amalgamation of expository dialogue and special effects that aren't especially special."
