Just curious, is there anywhere to watch the press conferences now? I know they've already happened, but I was stuck at work and I kind of enjoy watching them. :|

My god, Molyneux hasn't stopped beating the dead horse that is the Fable franchise yet?

Someone needs a new franchise/IP to work on...

Minecraft strikes me as the type of game that's in a permanent state of beta. Regardless it will run on basically any PC so not really seeing the big deal.

    Exactly.

Mutually beneficial for both parties, right there. It doesn't matter if Minecraft can run on any computer, there are leagues of gamers that don't touch their computer (or don't have one) for gaming.

I don't understand the outrage, people around the internets basically want Microsoft tried for War Crimes.

Because they showed kinect games at E3?

Haha, on the Gametrailers stream, Jeff asked Don Mattrick why you couldn't just use a headset instead of Kinect for voice recognition. He was like "well, I guess you could...but...hands free is better?"

Well, if they don't have Kinect support, then they don't get that nice stripe on the box and they lose out on being advertised wherever and whenever the Kinect is marketed. You know Microsoft is going to be pushing that thing hard for Christmas.

I just rewinded this stream a bit to watch that. This entire interview, Mattrick has this bewildered, irritated, "What the fuck are you doing? You're supposed to be tossing me the softball questions!" look on his face.

Tomb Raider game looked the best out everything. It's a shame what they did with AC:R though, didnt really like where it goes going gameplay wise at all.

Tomb Raider looks amazing, but Henroid's right; she does narrate a bit too much for my taste. Hopefully they tone it down a bit in the final product.

Haha, does he not know what a headset is? Apparently headsets are now microphones!

Edit: Though I wonder if he's actually confirming that a headset works, or just saying "you could... but we didn't." Because if it supports the headset, lol? What is the point of even saying Kinect support there?

Yeah Tomb Raider looked good but all through that I was just saying "Shut the hell up already!" My God, I get that maybe it would be realistic to mumble that much to yourself in such a situation but it's damn annoying.

I was actually thinking on the brief bit I skipped through that the voice acting wasn't that good. kinda follows the thread I made on it within the last month or so.

it sounds like one woman recording lines in a booth and another woman going through these actions and gestures on screen.

because that's how they did it. it's disconnected, unrealistic, and unfortunate. other older games do it better and now everything else is a disappointment in comparison

There is no easy way to share content or game saves between systems on the Xbox 360. If you'd like play your saved games on another console, you need to go through a lengthy and annoying gamertag recovery process. In a letter to the press today, Microsoft's Marc Whitten announced that cloud storage is coming to the Xbox 360, and not a moment too soon.

"We are making it easier for you to sign into your Xbox LIVE account from any console at any time to access your game saves and full profile, including items such as Microsoft Points to make purchases, Achievements and friends," he wrote in a statement.

"Gone are the days of 'gamertag recovery,'" Whitten continued. "Now all you need to do is sign in, no matter where you are!"
why would you not mention this during your press conference

Really? I thought it was sort of the definition of a success. Everyone expected it to not do well and it made them a ton of money.

    Kinect is not for me.

In the interest of having rational discourse, I've fixed up your post a bit to reflect how you probably actually feel.

I get the feeling that the only people who don't rage against Kinect are the ones who understand the concept of families, or having one. Yeah a lot of the Kinect stuff is kid appealing, but isn't that the main point? Yes, they push the unit on anyone buying a 360 currently, that's the wrong kind of market-maneuver. But the option of not having it is still present.

Games not requiring Kinect still exist, and they are still being made.

Kinect functionality being added to things like Mass Effect 3 does not mean NEEDING Kinect. It's optional support. If you want to get into a slippery slope argument, go for it, but if the slippery slope argument was true they would've done it already since many games are going whole-hog on Kinect controls.

So I dunno. I'm not asking people to like Kinect (shit, I'm not interested in having one still), all I'm asking is to chill out with the really insane shit people say. "Epic fail," and other shit like that, is pretty much "I have nothing of interest to say." And people were going nuts in IRC, multiple people repeating "Video games are dead" or other comments like that. It's insanity. It's a chant that's been rant for like two console gens now, but video games are still around and still good.

    Epic "flail." I chuckled.

I don't disagree that it made money, but anybody who knows anything knows the Kinect is a joke.

I'm waiting for the day when I can simply upload games directly into my brain, but until then I'll stay on the couch.

It's obvious Microsoft designed the Kinect to steal sales from the Wii. The current excitment surrounding it seems relatively similar to Hollywood's 3-dimensional movies.

I admit, Avatar looked pretty good in 3-d. Maybe something good will be designed for the Kinect, but don't expect me to be jumping around on rabbits any time soon.

There are also some of us who understand what Kinect is doing, who it is marketing etc and just not like the direction it is going. Microsoft has moved nearly their entire focus to the casual and family market while stringing their core fans along with a small piece of string. I am much more inclined to support the Move. It has the family friendly games and a fair number of normal game support. Most of the core games that use it make it completely optional though which is fantastic.
