without watching the videos, I know that Metatron is a cool angel dude and El Shaddai is a name for Yahweh, so I am pretty sure some crazy Japanese interpretation of religion is what's going on here.

I'll still check it out most likely, but that video is just the tip of the iceberg for what Japan has done with this game.

Hippos are also one of the few wild animals that are completely untrainable. You absolutely cannot train a hippo to do anything. If they use hippos in a movie, they basically have to stock shots, or mechanical.

When I first read this comic, I thought that he was saying that El Shaddai was superior to drugs as you could create hippos anywhere in the game rather than just randomly see them in life. This is sad, as I have actually been following this game somewhat(one of the lead character designers from the Okami team, well that's interesting). However, the thought of being able to suddenly summon a hippo in the middle of the motorcycle sequence or platforming sequence would be somewhat strange. And euphoric.

I am unsure as to whether I prefer my interpretation of the comic or the actual meaning, but either way, hippos. The comic has a very real feeling to it, almost as if Tycho and Gabe were moving themselves.

Yeah, looking at it and the previous few comics, the most obvious difference is that the lines around their heads have uneven thicknesses, like they were painted instead of drawn and then inked over.
