Actually, as far as we can tell, they're just sick of nullsec alliances in general, and want us all to move to highsec and run level 4 missions all day.

That way we can all afford the 1.6 billion isk for a monocle that should be part of the default character customization options.

It is only 1.1 billion in Metropolis. 500m isk opportunity right there.

So... I did a free trial for this game in what will literaly 4 years ago next month on the offering of a friend (who, in point of fact, was never on when I was, which was probably why I never subbed) and now, with all this stuff they added, thinking of trying again...

Even if I do sub, probably going to start from scratch (unaware that only one character can train skills at a time, I spent most of those 2 weeks creating a swaping characters... and then deleting them >_<, so none of them have more than 3-4 days worth of skills trained.) ...so I guess what I'm asking is that will CCP make a big deal if I start a second trial account with the same name/email?

I picked up EVE from Steam during some sale I don't know how many years ago and finally decided to sign up and try it last night. I figure there should be an influx of noobs like me with Incarna so hopefully I won't stick out quite so much.

I sort of picked my character at random and finished the first basic tutorial area, pretty straight forward. I'm supposed to head of now to meet a few more agents with more specific tutorials, which is good because I have no idea yet what I want to do in the game. I love Sci Fi and I'm hoping to just sorta soak up the environment for a while, maybe shoot some bad guys or haul some goods.

Any general advice for a casual noob? Do all the tutorials and early missions, maybe join Eve University?

  • KiTAKiTA Registered User regular
Yes, do all the tutorials. Always do all the tutorials. Then pick one of the more advanced tutorial lines (military et all) and do their lines.

Not away of the situation in highsec though -- I thought EVEU was just a really popular guide/wiki? :themoreyouknow: ?

You can have them all on the same email account. You can even send the "buddy invite" to the same email. I have done it. They do not care as long as they get there money.

Decided to log in and check out this new stuff. CQ is kinda nifty, though I turned it off because it's far easier to use ye olde interface plus that way it doesn't sit and load it.
:edit: Also, I was disappointed when you couldn't climb into that pod at your balcony.

New turrets are pretty boss, makes shit feel more dynamic. That said, did I accidentally poke the wrong button, or did CCP accidentally delete the visual effect you get while warping?

I get the warp effect about 1 jump in 5, I think it's a glitch.

Can't you get the 14 day trial via the website? Or sit there another, better, trial that I am unaware of? If so, I'd love one too, between Dust and Incarna I wouldn't mind checking out EVE again.

    Not very much.

Most people that run wormholes do all the scanning themselves, and if it leads to anything good that people are living inside of, you can expect the residents to be shutting down the exit asap once they've done any hauling for the day.

So if I've got a pile of crap in empire, how much of it, if any, would be worth attempting to bring to 0.0? My Battleship for potential ratting? My hulk/mackinaw for potential mining? or will I be better off liquidating most of it, clone jumping out and using supplies available in null sec?

I would sale off the crap you don’t ever use then ship only the stuff for your fits and some spares of things like cap rechargers and what not. if you don’t mind repackaging it really is not that bad to ship stuff out there. Even not repacked it is not that bad. There are enough JF services making jita runs that you can normally get what you need within a day. Plus the market is really hit or miss for stuff you might need out there.
Don’t forget corp mates are also handy if you need something immediately

Ditto. I can't imagine they'd do this, but then again, I could see how it would add an interesting dynamic to the game. All horrible and bad, but interesting nonetheless.

Edit: Read the PDF, didn't see anything about increased character power?

My suggestion: Leave one or the other ship so that if shit goes tits-up/you unsub for a few months and we move across the universe again, you have more than just your wallet in terms of accessable assets. JF/sell the rest.

That's what I did, outside of some random crap not worth selling. I highly suggest doing so.

In Eve, you can save the fitting configuration for any given ship you have so that you can fit out another one without dragging all the modules in one at a time (if you already have them in your hanger). Currently you can only have 50 configurations saved. Stoffer thinks it's a good idea to be able charge extra to allow you to store more than 50 configs.

Either 50 was an arbitrarily chosen limit that has no cost attached to increasing, or there is some complex CCP shortsightedness that prevents that limit from being increased without significant coding. For the former, it'd be greedy as hell to charge extra for increasing the limit. In the case of the latter, then wtf CCP?

I don't have any particularly strong objection to microtransactions for extra assets that wouldn't have been introduced without the extra cash incentive (although I am not apt to purchase them in most cases). However, it's incredibly arrogant to deliberately limit or sabotage aspects of the game and then offer to remove those limits or undo the sabotage for a fee.

    CCP Doc wrote:
On the opposite end of the scale to vanity goods are performance* based items such as weapons. They are consumed through gameplay, making them a potentially powerful source of renewable income. Selling them for real money is very tempting. They are highly desired by the player audience and yield lower development costs, as variation can be achieved through numbers rather than unique art assets. Selling them though, is highly controversial. We are planning on doing so. I would be tempted to say it is because we are fearless, but the real reason is that we have strong evidence that selling performance enhancers, in moderation, works.

Now, that was in the Dust 514. So, if you had high hopes for Dust..

    Oh, and World of Darkness?
    CCP Doc wrote:
"Cosmetics are the easiest form of virtual goods sales to discuss, but they’re not the only ones. Items that improve the player character’s capabilities are some of the most effective at converting free or trial players into paying ones. According to Jon Selin, Lead Designer on
World of Darkness, metrics from other games that sell virtual goods indicate that overall enjoyment increases"

That's why the Captain's Quarters is being forced on everyone. To encourage MT.

I'd actually be fine with it if it..

    A) Worked without system impacts.

    B) MTs were vanity only.

Not feeling B is realistic and we all know A isn't.

Not to detract from the WTF CCP??? line of thought, but how does one do this? I'm annoyed that it takes me several minutes to fit new ships and had no idea this was possible. Also, having played the game off and on for 4 years, I also feel kind dumb not know how do to this (or that it was possible).

  • hailthefishhailthefish Registered User regular
Open the fitting window with the fitting you want to save. At the top right of the fitting window, under the name of the fitting there's 3 buttons: browse, save, strip.

    Hit save.

To load a saved one, hit browse.
