I also love the fact that even today with such versatile computers, every movie/television show has the most ridiculous fake overlays and screens whenever anyone uses a computer to do anything.
I've decided that I need to learn more about how to express what and how a film works. I'm lacking quite a bit of analytical and technical background which is a shame given how much film I watch. So time to get an education.

I, luckily, though maybe foolishly when I look at the cost, had the benefit of taking a lot of film theory in college. I'm trying to think if anything I read may be of interest to you.
The BFI Film Classics series is an awesome little series of books that just discuss individual films. They do a new series each year, and though I've only read a select few, they are packed with awesome information and discussion.

Again I recommend the "x on x" series. Lynch on Lynch was my favorite.
I'll try and think of some more. Pervert in the Pulpit, also about Lynch, was a favorite of mine. Unfortunately much of theory didn't interest me until after the fact.
That made me sad for him.
