Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

    Oh ok here we go
    Salutations Lulz Lizards,

As we're aware, the government and whitehat security terrorists across the world continue to dominate and control our Internet ocean. Sitting pretty on cargo bays full of corrupt booty, they think it's acceptable to condition and enslave all vessels in sight. Our Lulz Lizard battle fleet is now declaring immediate and unremitting war on the freedom-snatching moderators of 2011.

Welcome to Operation Anti-Security (#AntiSec) - we encourage any vessel, large or small, to open fire on any government or agency that crosses their path. We fully endorse the flaunting of the word "AntiSec" on any government website defacement or physical graffiti art. We encourage you to spread the word of AntiSec far and wide, for it will be remembered. To increase efforts, we are now teaming up with the Anonymous collective and all affiliated battleships.

Whether you're sailing with us or against us, whether you hold past grudges or a burning desire to sink our lone ship, we invite you to join the rebellion. Together we can defend ourselves so that our privacy is not overrun by profiteering gluttons. Your hat can be white, gray or black, your skin and race are not important. If you're aware of the corruption, expose it now, in the name of Anti-Security.

Top priority is to steal and leak any classified government information, including email spools and documentation. Prime targets are banks and other high-ranking establishments. If they try to censor our progress, we will obliterate the censor with cannonfire anointed with lizard blood.

It's now or never. Come aboard, we're expecting you...

    History begins today.

I also love the fact that even today with such versatile computers, every movie/television show has the most ridiculous fake overlays and screens whenever anyone uses a computer to do anything.

I've decided that I need to learn more about how to express what and how a film works. I'm lacking quite a bit of analytical and technical background which is a shame given how much film I watch. So time to get an education.

There's no living with a killing. There's no goin' back from one. Right or wrong, it's a brand... a brand sticks. There's no goin' back. Now you run on home to your mother and tell her... tell her everything's alright. And there aren't any more guns in the valley.

I love how any hacking attempt done by any 90s hacker is basically a really shitty first person dungeon crawler

liek im imaging pentagon staffers writing code for the pentagon's firewalls

"ok jim but if they get through that brute force password system and those null strings, then they have to play wizardry for like three hours and hit level three. make sure they get the sword too"

The Net was pretty accurate in it's way. No 3D flying interfaces...just an OS that could somehow fuck with a plane's GPS system...

Well considering NMAP and an actual SSH exploit were apparently used, yes.

I, luckily, though maybe foolishly when I look at the cost, had the benefit of taking a lot of film theory in college. I'm trying to think if anything I read may be of interest to you.

The BFI Film Classics series is an awesome little series of books that just discuss individual films. They do a new series each year, and though I've only read a select few, they are packed with awesome information and discussion.

http://bfifilmbookguide.blogspot.com/2008/07/bfi-film-classics-2009.html This is an unofficial list.

http://www.amazon.com/Film-Form-Culture-w-DVD-ROM/dp/0073123617 This book is more a textbook but taught me a lot about film language.

Again I recommend the "x on x" series. Lynch on Lynch was my favorite.

I'll try and think of some more. Pervert in the Pulpit, also about Lynch, was a favorite of mine. Unfortunately much of theory didn't interest me until after the fact.

Yeah, I'm really looking for more general theory. I've picked up bits and pieces here and there but I'd like to learn more from the technical side.
