Congrats, Slash! I wish I'd have held on to my receipt as well, but shit happens. I'm horrible with receipts. I actually paid for Starcraft: Ghost in full, back in the day. I held on to that receipt forever, man, but I ended up losing it about the same time they announced it was never coming out. I went to GameStop (which I think was still Babbages, or EB Games or something, at the time), to try and get my money back, since I knew they kept hard copies of everyone's pre-orders in a box under the counter. Unfortunately, they had just upgraded to using a new computer system, and they tossed out the old pre-order box.

    Fucking weak.

Have you learned your lesson not to pay for things before you have them? Stupidest thing in the world. Even pre-orders on Amazon don't charge you until it ships.

    Yep.

I never put more than the minimum 5 dollars down on any pre-order anymore. In fact, I rarely pre-order at all, anymore. And I never put down anything until there's a confirmed release date. Even then, when games like Mass Effect 3 get pushed back a few months, I'm silently afraid it'll turn out to be another Starcraft: Ghost incident -- even though I know it won't.

Amazon.com's free release-date shipping (even outside of Amazon Prime/Amazon Student) is pretty sweet. It's not there for all games though.

Okay, the voice over at the end was awesome.

Also, when you get Steam issues like that, try restarting your computer.

EDIT: Also congrats on the bigass plug for your game studio. Shame the game wasn't already out on Steam when that happened though.

Yeah, I was really surprised that they got John St. John to do that! :D

Also, yeah the Steam thing - I had just freshly booted my PC before installing the game.. I guess I could have rebooted it again during the installation issues... but oh well. :P

Oh. Man Ok I didn't realize this until now:

The Balls of Steel Edition, there were only 136,000 copies of this edition produced world wide.

Gearbox gave me the 10th one produced, the earliest production copy of the game verified:

Sometimes Steam and windows get confused with each other for some reason and windows puts up a big "something is trying to access this file, so wait your turn" on the data files, but Steam gets caught up by that. A reboot can help.

I preordered early, as was my want back in the day and then the game was cancelled. As I lost the receipt and it was a year (or whatever it was) later, the staff there didn't know me anymore. So I couldn't prove I put anything down and thus I lost my preorder money to the nebulous system. Yeah it did suck and I can assure you I never bought anything from there again.
