does anyone have a higher resolution shot? they can do it, but need a MUCH higher resolution image than the one linked here in the forum.

Like I say, they'll need some higher-quality stuff to know what's going on amongst all those support beams. I'll do a search over lunch.

find someone who has extras, and offer them goodies. They were a limited run, as are all of the challenge coins.

So what sort of photos should I take? All angles and zoomins on important information?
My camera's only a 10MP point 'n shoot, so the photos won't be the best, but they should work.
I'll go down after work tomorrow if I can or else Thursday.

perinigricon - Pretend you've never seen the WSCTC before. All you have is that small coin mockup. You need to capture, for yourself, reference material so you know how to make a simplified construction of the structure/buildings' basic architectural highlights.

Is the coin going to have the edge like the prime coin last year, or the east one? I quite like the milled edges (no idea if thats the proper term for it, it just sounds like it to me though)

The jury is out on the milling. I think it cheapens the look of the coin. Makes it look like currency. What is everyone's opinion? Smooth edge, or currency-like milling?

I like the currency-like milling on last year's coin. It gives the coin a good feel.

I like the milling, too. It's a purely aesthetic preference I cannot explain or defend.

I *LOVE* the convention center on the reverse. I have to admit, it made my heart skip a beat in excitement for PAX just looking at it. I really like the angle of the shot PP used!

I too like the milling around the edge.
I have reservations about using the convention center though, I just have a hard time believing they will be able to make something that detailed look good on a coin.

Personally, the concept is fine, but I don't like the image at all, I just don't think it's good for a coin. But that's my two cents, what about the rest of you?

The image needs to be heavily cleaned up and a lot of the details would have to be lost in simplifying it enough. A photo on both sides is worse than a symbol, in my opinion.

Oh, also: Pro-Milling. I did not like the PAX East coin, and the smooth surface just doesn't feel good in your hand.

I prefer the milling myself. I also think that while the idea is good for the line attendee, that I agree with @Heleor that a photo on both sides is probably against the standard that has been set so far.

Also, I know that @PapaPrinny has been working on multiple designs to show and get feedback on, so I eagerly await the others (though I still really like the d-pad that had a lot of support).

PROPOSED OBVERSE:



This here is a rough idea of what I would personally like to see on the obverse of the coin. This glorifies the spirit of the PAX line attendee and their resolute nature.

Featured are: Coffee, knitting kit, book (possibly comic), DS, possibly food, and a carrying bag to keep it all in.

This image can NOT transfer directly to a coin. This will require a liberal interpretation on the part of the artist. But I think it is a side of the PAX experience that deserves to be glorified.

If I may put in my 2 bits, I liked the stylized D-pad on one side and the convention photo on the reverse with a milled edge for aesthetics.

The second photo is good of the line waiter is ok, but I don't think there's enough contrast in the items for each of them to stand out (though this can be corrected with "artistic rendering" of course.)

I do like the motto for the line-attendee though

To reiterate: That photo will NOT be used. This would be artist-assisted imagery. All the basic components for what I want to have conveyed are present, though. What's important is that we all decide whether we would like to have the imagery (coffee, crochet, book, DS, food, a carrying bag, a person waiting in line) represented in an image in some way. I of course vote for this. It is a tribute to the PAX attendee and his/her spirit. Perfect fodder for a traditional challenge coin, as is the included motto.

If the artist rendered one is done good then it would be perfect for a Pax coin. Although my vote is still for the D-Pad, until we can see the final design of the Pax line goer.

I think The Needle would be a great thing on the back of the coin... and the skyline would be sweet. I did like the Glass Canopy deal from the convention center. The front should be that D-pad deal fer sure.
