finally back on home PC, fixed spelling error

Back on topic, are we ready to get the order rolling? most people seem in favor of: + D-pad, Prinny's Convention Center shot, and milling on the side of the coin.

Are we good with this? Do we need changes? anyone so opposed that they will order a coin just to melt it down?

I think I'm good with it. I don't think I remember seeing anywhere that we settled on a finish (bronze, silver, etc), but the designs are all great to me.

Antique brass is not available with USCC. Go for the antique nickel for a good, safe finish. Experiment at your peril.

Im behind antique nickel as well, though Micro-Sandblasting on Brass would be my second choice.

Brass is my first choice. Not a fan of the nickel used for PAX East.

I'm also a fan of the Antique Nickel... I think the convention centre would stand out nicely with that.

I sent them what you found and it sounds like, in combination with the design image, that it will be enough.

I'm surprised at all the support for the milled edges. I thought last year's East coin was much better than the prime one, basically because of the smooth edges and the nickel color (just never been a huge fan of brass, but I think it's important to maintain some distinct characteristics between the two PAXes, like we do with the Red/Blue color schemes).

Being familiar with a fair number of "real" military challenge coins, the smooth edges are pretty standard - papaprinny was correct I think when he said that milled edges make it feel like currency instead of a collectable (collectible?). But I'd be happy to keep the East coin smooth and leave the milling to you crazy Primers...

I vote for the Brass option as well.

On a side note I have 4 extra coins from PAX East 2011 that I am will to give to anyone who attended that was not able to get one. Also you will have to be going to PAX Prime. Please PM if you are interested.

I have a quick question. You put down that you're getting a quote for Antique Silver. Was it a flub and you meant Antique Nickel, or is there an Antique Silver just hidden and not listed on the list of choices? I will be getting a couple regardless, just curious.

Thanks for all the effort from you and all the others helping. This will be my First Pax and i'm glad that I will have a token to remember it by.

it will be updated in the first post when we have it available for order. at the moment, we are waiting to hear back from the manufacturer for a quote, then we need to get $$ together to pay for the setup/diecast fee

I'm late to the party, I know, but I want in on this again. Last year's prime challenge coin is just nice to hold and look at, so logically two of them is better.

Small update, in the final stages before we start collecting die-cast monies. Had some minor confusion on the first invoice they sent (they wanted to charge for 100 coin up-front) so I am getting that sorted out. Not much longer now before we start taking die-cast donations. FYI - at the moment the die cast is just under $300.

Request: Hide the current text/images in the OP (since your search for designs appears to be over) and put up the current proposed design for fast reference. Also some wording about "Die Cast Collection: SOON!" and "Order Here: SOON!" My visits to the PA forums aren't very frequent, and I've done a lot of paging back and forth trying to figure out what's what.

UPDATE: (this will be in the OP as well)

Just got off the phone with US challange coin. The Die-Cast Fee will be $252.50 though we may round that up in the chip-in to an even $300 to help cover paypal fees. I will PM Prinny as well to let him know to set this up.

Now for the bad news. These most likely will NOT be available before PAX They estimate about 1-1.5 weeks for the die-cast, and an additional 4 weeks for actual coin production, THEN they will be available to ship. We knew we were close to the wire, and while im dissapointed we wont have them at PAX, im VERY VERY happy with the coin we have made and it will be a nice present for myself to combat the Post Pax Blues.

So while we collect the diecast fee, they aslo asked that I get an estimate of how many coins will be purchased. Rather than go through the thread and see who said how many they would order (since feelings may change with the new timeframe) I have satup a google form. PLEASE - if you plan on ordering coins, post it there. I will be using these numbers to determine how many to order for the first (and hopefully only) batch and I dont want anyone to not get a coin because we have to order another batch just for a couple people. Coins should be running around $5, but this may vary based on how large of a batch we order, and wont have final prices untill the order URL is ready.

Please remember, add your name and number of coins does NOT order your coin. When I have the order URL it will be posted, this is so I know a good estimate to give them when we pay for the die-cast fee.

You can make an actual FORM instead of just a spreadsheet btw. Having the spreadsheet be wide open can open it up to someone accidentally deleting someone's info.

Just go to Tools->Form->Create a Form

then lock the spreadsheet itself, and link the form that people can fill out.
