Did anyone notes that Sookie was reading a book by Charlaine Harris?
Nope, when?
When she's at the table reading a book, waiting for Eric to show up or whatever, and then there's the flash of light and her fairy godmother shows up. The book she is reading clearly displays the author as Charlaine Harris.

They like doing that. In the first season, her grandmother is reading a book by Charlaine Harris as well.
I noticed the book as well, my wife and I had a good laugh at that. Also bringing on the laughter was Sookie getting a lil'freaked out whenever Eric was being all adorable and stuff.
I thought the episode mostly dragged. Wasn't very interesting aside from a few key parts.
Biggest complaint
Really Sookie? Just going to stand there and watch you fairy god mother get drained? Sookie did nothing and just watched someone get straight up murdered. Granted she didn't trust her etc, but come on, wasn't she a little bit curious about what was going on? At least enough to save her? So fucking weak and really out of character especially considering that Sookie is generally very sweet and gives people the benefit of the doubt. Also, I really think they did this just so Sookie go stupidly say "You killed my Fairy God Mother." I know its True Blood and thats part of the allure of the story, but really? Ugh
Well.
They make a big show of pointing out that, amnesia or no, this is Eric Fucking Northman we're talking about. He's a 1,000 year old Viking badass. Unless Sookie can conjure her light blasts at will now (which seems to not be the case), she has absolutely no way to stop Eric from doing whatever he wants. I think right now she's just glad he's not eating her. Fairy Godmother was pretty sketchy anyway.
Second, actually interesting thing
Really thought the Jason Story line was interesting and fucked up. Loved the hint of mythology and the gang rape scene at the end. Yes all these chicks were waiting their turn. Really messed up. Or in Futurama Speak, the spirit is willing by the flesh is spongy and bruised. Not really sure how Jason was supposed to service all those chicks in one night, but maybe it was just a couple. Also will be interesting to see the fallout and effect it will have Jason's psyche. Will he become more like Tara?
The crazy thing about the Jason storyline is that
the werepanthers seem to be so sure that he's changing, but his symptoms (high fever, etc) are more along the lines of horribly infected wounds. They gave him viagra so he could continue serving as "ghost daddy" or whatever to that long line of women (is it statutory rape if the young teen has you tied to the bed?). Either Jason (due to his fairie blood) is immune to were-panther-ism, or the Hot Shot people don't actually have the ability to turn someone.
I'm getting some serious Deliverance-meets-Cat People vibe off of those Hot Shot folks. Except with less Nastassja Kinski.
Overall, this epsiode was just setting up more of the rest of the season with a few hints about what is going to happen in the future. I think the start of this season is really weak (outside of a few cool moments), but could have a great payoff.
I think it's pretty standard for the series so far.
I really liked the
Alcide scene, particularly how Sookie did an about-face as soon as she saw Diane. She was totally coming onto him before that.
I'm fairly certain it has something to do with that girl Hoyt was seeing last season, as she was a huge doll collector and pretty much didn't do/think about anything else but dolls and Hoyt. And his mom was buying a doll off that shopping network in this episode, so there might be some connection there. Maybe the girl (Summer, I think?) does some dark shit with the dolls we don't know about yet.
I forgot for sure- can vampires compel other vampires in True Blood? I don't think so, so another mark in the +'s to being a vampire.
I'm sure Jessica will come to regret doing that by either breaking down and telling him/undoing it or he starts remembering on his own, but I'm not really looking forward to it.

Vampires don't seem to glamour each other, but makers can command their progeny until they release them. Of course, the vampire hierarchy is so ancient and well-established that there's a good chance that a young vampire (i.e. any made during the show's timeline) had better do what an older vampire says, or be in considerable danger.
True, but it would stop all your fellow new breeds fucking with you without your knowing. And even knowing Eric is the one compelling-you-without-glamour could be useful.
How established is it that shifters like Sam can shapeshift into anything? I vaguely remember Sam taking other forms near the end of the maenad story, but otherwise I thought they only had one standard form. Sam's a dog, etc.

You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.

They have to understand what they're turning into. So if they can grasp it in their heads they can turn into it. People are too complex (until they brought up that new chick turning into her mother). Goto forms are just easier to pull off.

The mum things seems especially stupid because didn't she die giving birth to her? So the only way she would know what her mum looked like was from photos/videos.

Actually, being a skinwalker (as opposed to a shifter), she said she gets her ability to turn into something by killing them. So, either she can do both kinds of transformation, or she's killed a whole lot of animals.

Oh...snap...
This just made me realize something - Tommy isn't going to kill Sam. He's going to kill Hoyt's mom so he can morph into her and get the gas money.
Did I miss when she said she was a skinwalker vs a shifter like the rest of them? I guess that would explain why there were mostly just interested in her turning into her mother instead of "That's impossible!!!!".

She never straight out says that she's a skinwalker, but she mentions the story of skin walkers and that they could turn into any living thing including other people. However they had to kill others to become them, then she mentioned that she killed her mom at birth which allowed her to shift into her mother unknowingly.

I think it's assumed that she is a skinwalker.
I thought they said that the difference between a shaper and a skinwalker is that to become a skinwalker a shaper had to kill another shaper that they were related to by blood. That's where the whole Tommy killing Sam to gain that power theory came from. I don't think Tommy could turn into Hoyt's mum without killing Sam (and maybe her as well).
Oh, I thought it only wore off because the victim wasn't drained completely, making this situation different. You're probably right, I guess we'll see.
It wore off when it was Sookie's blood, but she's only half fae and was never drained. Fairy God Mother was full fae, got totally drained. On the flip side, though, she's not the first one to get drained and no daywalkers. So it'll probably wear off.
So when the Bellefleur grandmother shows up, I go <tony danza>Mo-naaaa</tony danza> immediately. I then doubt myself and there's no actress listed but she was the credits backed me up.

Lol. Yeah I'm not liking where that's going.

GOD YES. I AM NOT PLEASED WITH THIS DEVELOPMENT
Isn't it obvious? Mikey wanted a worthy toy to disembowel and remake in his own dark image.

Forgot about the maker/progeny thing, thanks.

I assume it works just like it did in the third season. It should wear off eventually.
It would be hilarious to see a non-canon sitcom of Eric and Sookie as roommates in NYC or something

I am rather excited to see what kind of hijinks Sookie and Eric get up to this week.
It was sitting in the corner of the living room when Hoyt first took Jessica to the place to ask her to move in.

Over all great episode, season's still going strong.
P.S. New emoticons suck and barely work. Can't get the clapping one to work.
