PAX UK Scuppered by EuroGamer Expo

I just found this article on GeekWire that has Robert Khoo talking about the possibility of the PAX in the UK. Sadly it would appear they have backed out of the idea thanks to the existence of Euro Gamer Expo. To quote Mr Khoo himself:

"We explored the U.K. quite a bit this year, actually. And what it came down to was there’s another show called the Eurogamer Expo. It’s a smaller show, but people who go to it really love it. If we were to go in there, yeah, we’d probably be successful, but it might put them out of business. And we’re not in the business of putting other businesses out of business. So we would never touch that."

I for one am very sad to hear this. EuroGamer Expo is nowhere near as good or as all encompassing as PAX. Why can't they do a joint event instead? *sigh*

I want PAX to come to Australia but Australia already has something called Supernova which is more like comicon rather than PAX but I still want PAX!

Next PAX: PAX AUS 2013 (definitely going!!!!)
    Previous PAXs: PAX Prime 2011

I still think PAX Australia is the best idea. Our Aussie brethren are plentiful and even a PAX UK wouldn't do anything to make their travel any easier. Not to mention the Asian market that would open up.

There's also the fact that Australia's summer is during the US winter. Right now US PAX events pretty much have the good months blocked off. For a northern hemisphere PAX even it would have to be sandwiched in between East and Prime to not worry about getting into bad weather and have any planning time. An October/November Australian PAX event shouldn't be bad though.

    Just my $0.02.

There is also a gaming convention in Austraila in October. The EB Games Expo:

I don't think there is much room on the calendar for another PAX. There alot of cons throughout year now, gaming companies attend like CES, Gamescom, Tokyo Game Show, SDCC, and NYCC.

it doesn't seem to be the all encompassing expo that PAX is. though I think they should keep Prime where it is and alternate between East and somewhere else.

Trying to take the fun away from us East coasters are ya? /beatup, JKz... but no, I would be very sad if East was alternated and find that idea saddening.

But I agree and endorse the fact that PAX UK shouldn't happen in order to avoid taking over other con's. No matter how awesome PAX is, PAX, Penny Arcade, and Khoo aren't about squashing other conventions/businesses... it's just wrong. Which will make the creation of an international PAX even more difficult to do, I mean... where can you go now-a-days that doesn't already have a gaming con close-by?

It's a toss up, hopefully an answer will shine soon.

This thread makes me glad I live within driving distance of PAX Prime :P This option isn't the best for the Aussies but something in western russia would be good because that way it is a little closer for the asians and still not too far for all the Europeans :/ idk
