    Can someone give me a Intel based PC build for around 800 bucks including a copy of win7?

    My puter is melting down I think.

    Seems like you have a lot of problems with your graphics cards. You could have a bad PSU.

    Seems like you have a lot of problems with your graphics cards. You could have a bad PSU.

    That is might be it, I'm gonna try replacing it here shortly because I dunno how else to diagnose that kind of problem.

    You haven't messed with the PCI-E settings in the bios, have you? Those can cause problems as well.

    For around $600 without tax you can get

    An H61 Motherboard
    Non K model i5 2500 (from Microcenter for around $170)
    Either a GTX 460 1gb or Radeon 6850
    4gb of DDR3
    A Corsair 600watt PSU
    An OEM version of Windows 7 Home Premium

    That all comes to around $625 without tax and shipping. That leaves room for a new HDD and some other upgrades to the stuff. Like a more powerful video card or a better motherboard and ram setup.

    WEll I just switched out to another PSU I had laying around.

    Gonna boot up something 3d and see if it still happens.

    There was a lot of dust in the old one.

    Yeah it was the older PSU it's either dead or was overheating from the dust.

    The other PSU could have been unstable and damaged the video card. There are ways to test them but I don't know much about that.

    Or MSI sent you back a bad card.

    Those are possibilities.

    I seem to be having no trouble anymore with the newer PSU.

    Occam's razor says it is probably the PSU that fried my old one and was going to fry my new one too.

    I'm going to try running some diagnostic stuff on the 460 just in case.

    Well my computer seems to work now. Thanks to all who offered advice.

    Kind of annoying that two parts broke at about the same time. Made things pretty hard to diagnose.

    never could get over GTAIV PC's horrible shadows, this looks a lot nicer

    apparently this mod is even more likely to make your graphics card go up in flames though

    the original version destroyed my SLI setup
