My record with the Tau (I haven't played in a year or so) was 46-3-7. This is from friendly games to Ard Boyz. Yes, its a little weird that I have my actual record but its because I actually keep a little history about each of my units/models and cool things they have done. Some die permanently, some get promoted. I have a system of permanence for my little dudes. whatever, don't look at me like that.
So I was winning, but it was HARD to win. I read so many tacticas online and really learned my army. I like when games are balanced or I'm a minor underdog (one of the main reasons I chose the Tau to begin with). I like feeling challenged. So, NO. I don't want a huge advantage and/or for Tau to become flavor of the month. That would be horrible.
But now, the Tau are so underpowered its nearly impossible to win against alot of armies. Its gotten beyond challenging and into masochistic. And its only going to get worse. UGH.
I love the fact that I played at a minor disadvantage which forced me to really get good at the game in order to win. I had/got to know my army AND every other army incredibly well. Then I would exploit their weaknesses and bait/trap to win. It was great and fun.
Now, though, no matter how tactically sound I play, I am going to lose. Tau just have no defense against multiple squads of longfangs, psychic powers of GK, or the rest of the armies that can be in your face by turn two. Kroot wrapping used to help because my firepower could out gun my enemies while they wasted time killing kroot. Now, my enemy's firepower is better than mine, and they are better in CC, and they are more mobile. I mean, come on.

My main issue, and the reason I seem to be ranting, is that I was really pumped because the rumors used to have Tau getting an update early next year. I was ready to finally be able to play again. Then not only did that not happen, but I hear that 6th is coming out and two more armies before we can even hope for Tau? So even more of the few pieces of wargear in my codex will be unuseable? And even more of the special rules won't affect anything? awesome. Plus to top it off, DA and Eldar (two more fast armies) are getting updated before the Tau. perfect. Guess I will just keep painting and hope to eventually have an army that isn't broken.

dude, Tyranids are better in CC than at least half the armies. Right?
Hahahaha, no. Some Tyranid units are pretty good in close combat. They are also slow and expensive. They also have almost no way of breaking their prey out of those strange metallic shells they wear without getting into combat. Except, see prev. sentence.
Also, their only psychic defence doesn't work if the psyker its defending against is in one of the aforementioned metal boxes, for no very good reason at all.

And I got paid today. It was all I could do not to run down the street to spend money at Hobbytown during lunch. I'm forcing myself to wait until after work at least.
That didn't stop me from already spending $30 on some bases, three tank commanders, and tank stowage for my poor abused Demolisher. (IT WILL RETURN TO IT'S FORMER GLORY!!!!) The bases I need for the figs I need to paint for my one commission. lol

I think I've decided to kit-bash my own Librarian in power armor. I really don't like the Finecast in Terminator armor. Now to just try and score some cheap Grey Knight pieces.

That sandbag piece with the binocs on top was from a GW kit of some sort. I'm sure of it. I never bought anything not made by GW. I think it may have been with some tank stowage, but not the current tank stowage i just purchased off their website today. Does anyone have that piece that would be willing to part with it?

On top of that.. I appear to be winning the bidding for that Space Skeleton. I'm afraid if I win it I'll never take it out of the box. If it is in the box. The picture at ebay is the studio picture from the catalogue long ago. And the description doesn't say much. I've got an hour to go. Should I even worry about snipers? Becuase I'm sure that money could be better put to use fixing the problems with my IG army.

Had a game yesterday with my friend. Tried out Scourges. They fell into terrain. Heat Lance #1 broke his neck as they landed. Heat Lance #2 broke his leg when they jumped out of it next turn in an attempt to reach a Dreadnought. FML.

EDIT: And I am a little afraid to paint it. Heck, one more Valhallan won't mean anything. But that's a rare, ancient fig. It should be painted to museum quality. And then treated with care.
EDIT: Also, if I win the ebay stuff I'm bidding on that I know has paint on it, what's the best way to strip it? Someone mentioned purple something or other...
