Yeah, it's an elected position and the people in her district like her

We will see for reals how much they like her because I'm positive someone will run against her in her next election

I'm completely positive she only has her job because she has ran I unopposed (i believe) in every single election she's been in

I don't have a way to check this claim, just going off of memory

I don't think it ended up that she actually cheated. She's just ridiculously incompetant and resistant to change. She's unapologetic about it as well, and there's little chance that she'll get voted out, because she's simply well liked among her constituency. They really don't care about these sorts of things, it's all about the people, you know?

PPP has all the potential matchups as basically a toss up. Unless Feingold took time off from being an ass (I'm so sad the President hasn't unilaterally disarmed in the funding race) to actually run.

Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.

Feingold lost because he did disarm, but he still feels it was the right move to make because, like santorum claims to have, he has convictions and morals and really does stick to them

Yeah Feingold let his principles destroy him.

I mean I understand where he's coming from, but pragmatism needs to be part of your strategy. The best strategy to doing what he wants re: campaign finance is to get as many like minded people elected as possible.

This is impossible with unilateral disarmament

Small comfort to the Wisconsinites saddled with a Teaper senator for six years.

I'm kinda pissed at Russ right now. I've said it before, I'll say it now: Order of Cincinnatus, man. The Republic is in its time of need, and requires our best leaders to return and restore our hopes. He could end this fiasco now. Think about that. Now.

It won't effect The Walker recall, but the State Assembly just passed a constitutional amendment which would make it more difficult to recall a state government official in the future. It still has to pass the Senate and pass a ballot measure too, though. My guess is this will probably fail, but it is unsurprising to see the Republicans doing something like this. It's like their are doing it out of pure spite, really.

There is more bad news (the elimination of puntivie damages for violation of Wisconsin’s Fair Employment Act) from the cheese state as well. But hey, there is some good news (regarding the voter ID law) as well!

We've already struck every signature already, except for duplicates which we are looking for now. This is especially true since Walker didn't challenge anything

Oh and Walker is now setting up a legal defense fund
"Wisconsin Statutes permit a state government official who is being investigated for or
charged with a violation of campaign finance laws or prohibited election practices to establish a 'legal defense fund' for expenditures supporting or defending the candidate while that person is being investigated for, or charged with, or convicted of a violation of those chapters," says a summary of the statute provided by the Government Accountability Board.

Reid Magney, spokesman for GAB, declined to elaborate on the matter or to say whether his agency provided advice to Walker's campaign on the matter.

But election lawyers said the governor's move appeared a tacit acknowledgment that Walker is under investigation for violations of state election law.

"If you create a legal defense fund, you are either being investigated, being charged with or have been convicted of a criminal violation of Chapter 11 or Chapter 12," said George Dunst, a retired state election lawyer.

"The only way you can set that up is if you are under investigation or being prosecuted," said Michael Maistelman, an election lawyer who is representing former Walker aide Tim Russell in the John Doe investigation. "One can only draw the conclusion that either one of those two things is happening."

But Walker spokeswoman Ciara Matthews said late Friday that the fund was set up "under the guidance of the GAB."

"We reiterate that Gov. Walker has been told that he is not a target of this investigation," Matthews said.

State law also says Walker can transfer funds from his state campaign to the legal defense fund with the contributor's consent.

Edit: And your email should have been cut off override. Everything to the right of the date part of the petition was cut off before the GAB received it because it wasn't needed and we didn't want it

that's some dedication to find the exact petitions that I filled out and e-mail me with the pictures saying that certain signatures are suspicious

WI judge strikes down Walker's voter suppression - I mean voter ID law on the grounds that it would be an unconstitutional abridgement of the right to vote:

    http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20120313/GPG010403/203130500/2nd-Wisconsin-judge-strikes-down-voter-ID-law

What makes it awesome is that the judge said that Article III spells out exactly what the requirements are to vote.

@lonelyahava : yes, Rep. Pridemore has proposed a bill requiring Wisconsin's social services programs to put out information which (falsely) states non-traditional families are more at risk for producing child abuse and neglect. Non-traditional families in this case being gay couples, single parents, divorced parents, etc. Rep. Pridemore is generally recognized as an arch-conservative bigot. He proposed an Arizona-style "show your papers" law, for example. He even hates puppies.
No, really. He proposed a bill to remove a lot of the restrictions placed on unlicensed dog breeders (a.k.a. "puppy mills).

The Wisconsin Assembly passed bills limiting insurance coverage for abortions and requiring schools to teach abstinence during a late-night session that lasted until Wednesday morning as they pushed to tie up pending legislation. The Legislature was poised to adjourn Thursday without passing its two highest priorities coming into the year: a mining bill to help create hundreds of jobs in northern Wisconsin and a measure pumping money into venture capital to help spur new business creation.

That should make your blood boil.

The mining bill is dead since the mining company has said they're no longer interested, due to the delays in passing the bill. The bill however had riders that weakened environmental protections that even some republicans rejected so it wasn't going to pass anyway
