Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

I have a strong dislike for the animated Y! smileys that come with Vanilla, but this seems to be an appropriate occasion:

I am comforted by Richard Dawkins’ theory of memes. Those are mental units: thoughts, ideas, gestures, notions, songs, beliefs, rhymes, ideals, teachings, sayings, phrases, clichés that move from mind to mind as genes move from body to body. After a lifetime of writing, teaching, broadcasting and telling too many jokes, I will leave behind more memes than many. While I was beginning to get used to the new style, I'm a curmudgeony old miser who hates new things so this new style is awesome.

yaaaaay this is much better. is anyone else planning to do ones of their own? because this could be way cooler than user-selected forum skins

I like user-selected forum skins because I would prefer my theme to be independent of the computer that I am using at any given time.

Since Ramius said that we're not getting that, I am taking Suriko's code and adapting it for myself.

Yay Suriko! Have as many stars as you can carry.

This begs the question, can Suriko make a massive enough number of stars that even He Himself cannot carry?

No, because he will just write a script that allows him to carry more.

Here's my color theme on user styles. Again, this is based on Suriko's work. I only changed the colors.

Also style that's close to the old PA style.

I've installed Stylish, but it's not giving me the option to install this style

I'm on Chrome, if that makes a difference

This is an adaptation of the original style for those that prefer the original PA colours pre-switchover.

    1. stay with your wife while she dog sits. this wins husband points since she knows its out of your comfort zone
    2. have sex all over her friends house so that the next time you see her friend look at you condescendingly, you can wink back knowing you did the freaky deaky where she eats her cheerios.

It only worked for me (in Chrome, after installing Stylish) when I clicked on the "Or: install as user script" link. I assume I haven't allowed the site to run JavaScript as it states I should (since I don't know how), but this worked.

Which is a shame, because I'm not sure I'll be able to get Stylish on my work computer, and I usually do most of my browsing there, where the excess white (along with up to 3 other monitors at once) can be a bit harsh. Just have to keep my fingers crossed that I can get Chrome/Stylish set up and perhaps snag the style on a USB key this week.

yeps, just go to the userstyle.org page, right click on "install as plain css." Save the file somewhere, then right click on the penny arcade forum pages, select "edit site preferences" and in "display - my style sheet" choose the file you just saved. refresh for fun new colors.

Hopefully someday Atomic will support these themes. Until then I'll give you 5 stars up front.

Edit: apparently fucking my eyes isn't enough, because the new forum took away my stars. Fooey.

    Indeed, fooey.

Took away the stars, took away all the function buttons (text formatting/link/image/etc), took away the awesome smileys and left us with goddamn Yahoo messenger ones instead...they took so much functionality out with these new boards (and really added absolutely nothing), I'm surprised we even still have the ability to report posts for awesomeness, FFS. I'd almost rather deal with the server being too busy.

That's why it's important to exalt Suriko like the king among men he is for putting in the effort to allow us to have just a little bit of our old forum back.
