It's like if you changed the recipe to a favourite dish. The ingredients are no longer the same; it is not the same dish. Yes, it has the same name, but its components are different, making it, essentially, something else. I loved what was RHCP; I don't love this new version because, unlike the old version, I don't know it well. My good feelings toward the band are toward the band as it was; this is a new thing, those feelings don't carry over. Why would they?
