Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

I had a nice big spider bite on my left shoulder for a few days, but I am presently immune to their sissy-ass venom.

Truth be told, it was a black widow and I've been bitten by them so many times that I just crush them in between my fingers these days. I haven't started to notice any changes in my overall abilities. Well, my liver is swollen, but I think that's from all the drinking.

    I think.

    black widows aren't lethal anyway

most people that die from them die from shock because they think they're gonna die

in other words because of stupidity

i dunno what kind of toxin black widows have

maybe you'd just get a painful brain for a while

Point: Black widow venom is fairly toxic and can cause necrosis and eventually gangrene if unidentified within a certain period of time. And yes, humanity is stoopid.

    edit:

Black widow venom is a neurotoxin.

That, or people have different reactions to the venom based on body chemistry (allergic reactions), previous exposure, or other medical conditions.

well sometimes they administer a lethal dose

but the fangs are generally too small and the amount of venom too small for it to be lethal

it was on a tv programme it must be true

One of the first rules of toxicology is that substance + dose + reaction = response.

Some people are so sensitive to things like bee stings or spider bites that even minor stings/bites can be fatal. Other people get bitten by a King Cobra and survive.

Also, a Black Widow can clearly bite a human and inject venom. I believe you're thinking of the MythBusters episode with Daddy Longlegs spiders. They had fangs way to small to puncture human skin, and on top of it their venom was not that potent to humans.

no they do administer the venom and it is at a dangerous depth, but the small size of the fangs means there is only a small amount of venom administered

    IT WAS ON TV DAMNIT

    TV NEVER LIES

Bill Oddie told me that they don't always kill.

    that doesnt make sense
you would think that once they get their fangs in they can inject as much as they got

eg if you have a syringe with a tiny but satisfactory needle that doesnt mean you cant inject as much as one with a slightly bigger needle

    darjeelingshortsig95.jpg
  • AirAir Registered User regular
eg a small penis doesnt have to result in a small load

    it is important to remember

    this is british television

british people are not good at teeth

snakes have fangs and also venom sacs
i was under the impression that fangs are basically just sharp hollow teeth connected to where the venom is stored

    what about draculas
