Taking the T to Fenway

Driving up from CT to Fenway tomorrow. Planning on taking Riverside station to Fenway. Is this the best way to go? Any tips on awesome pre game festivities? This is my GF's birthday present, so want to do it right. Any tips appreciated.

You're actually better off going to the Kenmore station, since that's closer to Fenway. As for pre-game activities, beats me, because I hate baseball and the Sox. :P There's some pretty outstanding food / drinks in the area - Eastern Standard has great cocktails, Island Creek Oyster Bar has great oysters (real shocking given the name, I know), Citizen Public House on Boylston has great cocktails and great oysters, Boston Beer Works has some good beers... I have no idea how packed any of those get before / during games, though. UBurger is also nearby and their burgers are great, though I know that place is packed before games.

To be really authentic you should grab a sausage from one of the street stands. Also there is a whole open-air street area called Yawkey Way that you can get into once you show your ticket, kind of a shopping area with Sox paraphenalia. That's more touristy but might be fun.

Boston Beer Works is also pretty decent. But really the awesomeness happens immediately around and inside the park, it's a great place to see baseball.

Spin isn't in academia? You're in for a real disappointment when you go to your first conference and see two old men with mighty beards politely implying that the other person is more capable of fucking a dog then writing a scientific paper.

There's even beer guys now! Rum punch, toddy, egg toddy, and flip can't be far behind!
