Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

The PA Presents and PA Scholarship links look a bit broken or like afterthoughts positioned right next to all the orange tabs.

Besides that I endorse the new site design on the basis of the 404 page alone, pity we'll rarely get to see it.

In 5 years? I assume we already passed the peak of social media icons a couple years back when every article on any website would typically have about 30. That seems to have died down quite a bit. Now if we could just get rid of comment sections on every fucking thing.

edit: I'm not sure how the quote tree got so messed up. I didn't edit it.

Penny Arcade needs an active Facebook page with links to the comic, PATV, Child's Play, and anything else

it does not make sense not to -- it's just more visitors and more money from ads, and instead of people having to seek out Penny Arcade specifically, it can be delivered directly to their Facebook feed, so they never miss content

Well, Jerry, as we know, does not book face, although Mike does. But I guess it is sort of surprising that there is no official "company" social networking presence.

Penny Arcade 7.0 made me curious about the evolution of the site's look, especially in the years before I started reading. Some people may find The Internet Wayback Machine archives of the PA site interesting, although obviously since sponsor banners and a lot of other stuff are missing the previous iterations cannot be captured in their full glory.

    Uhhh

Gabe and Tycho both use twitter fairly regularly, most Gabe though. Khoo does as well, as well as a number of staff. Then there's the official PAX twitter account and the PA merch account.

Explain to me why the color scheme for the new site looks like the custom sheets for the forum instead of the godawful default.

Still not a single official social networking presence for the whole PA empire, like the Facebook page that was being suggested in the post I quoted. I did not mean to imply that there's no social network presence for PA at all, I mentioned the fact that Mike books face after all.

The same reason the mobile version of the forum mysteriously changed to an old-school-vibe blue theme a while ago? (The answer being: who fucking knows.)

Well, this at least explains where the fugly green came from for the page links on the forums.

Doesn't look bad on the beta site, with the darker colour palette, but I still think it hideously out of place on the forums.

It's kind of a hassle finding the button that displays the comic. It's tiny, and it looks like a button for a quote or a comment?
Seeing as the main draw of the site is a webcomic, I reckon the link to the current comic needs to be significantly higher up in the hierarchy. Something like a custom button, the width of the newspost with "current comic" or something like that.

New comers to the site just wanna see that comic, curently it's too hard to find in my opinion.

I thought it was Jerry's newsposts.

I kid of course, that's the main draw for me. It does seem a little weird to have it set up this way. The newcomer to the site can always click "comic" at the top of the page though. It's not just that little icon.

Honestly? The new site has the same problem (for me) that the new forum does: far too much wasted space. Each element has way too much wasted, empty space surrounding it. It feels like a lot of this stuff was designed for touch-screen devices, rather than traditional computers.

people don't really look at headers. It's pretty easy to tell instantly where "content" starts and your eyes tend to gravitate right there.

It's not really bitching when they are asking for feedback from folks who visit the site like every damn day.

They don't? I mean it's easy for us to ignore it because it's the same thing we ignore everytime we view the forum, but a brand new person who wants to view the comic isn't likely to have issues finding the link.

That said, I think having a spot for the new comic in the news area is a good idea.
