What bothers me most about this is that they had talked a lot about future content for the game. Multiplayer fort modes, new worlds and shit. I think someone took those ideas and ran with them to make Starbound. This is like that time the drummer of my brother's band lawyered-up and took the rights to the music from under their noses, firing the rest of the band.

Start the TerrariaServer.exe file, open the ports necessary (Google can help you), and get your IP Address (another Google search). Give your IP address to your friends and just use the default port (7777).

Thanks, I think I've cracked it. Was sure I was missing something obvious but no, it is that roundabout. at least I learnt something new today ^^

In my case, Terraria made me able to play 2D games with WASD, the same way that San Andreas for the PC allowed me to get used to WASD for FPSes and third person games. My problem was that after playing for a while, my eyes would burn.

I miss playing this so damn much, the time can fly by scarily fast while playing this one.

Really got to get back into it soon before GW2 comes out, never did finish most of the content or even install any mods for that matter. I had a nice fort going and most of the merchants blocked off in the peasant part of town far to the left with poorly put together wooden houses where they can't bother me and the town I'm making out of gold.

I thought this was a pretty "dead" game, I enjoyed it at the time and that time was quite lengthy but unless there is a massive infusion of content most current owners who have played it to death will be pretty "meh" I imagine.

terraria is different from minecraft, it is less about building to me and more about spelunking/making new weapons.

Starbound is terraria in space on a much more epic level it seems

It's more like if you merged Minecraft with a Metroidvania. More exploration, combat, and crafting of gear. Building stuff is still possible of course, but your options were much more limited in that field until some of the last updates.

I want to post to say that The Story of Red Cloud is a superb adventure mod. It's very metroidvania, all the loot is hand placed, it's basically a huge new game worth about 20-30 hours of gameplay. It's got the Dark Souls mod in it, where enemies drop souls you use for mod-specific crafting. If you die, you drop the souls. If you die again before recovering the souls, they disappear forever. It's really excellent and well worth a look.

Not a good comparison, then. Adding stuff to a paid product compared the the free one makes more sense than not. It's practically the opposite of wrong, even!

Think maybe I'll go fire Terarria up again, haven't touched it in awhile...
