Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

Oh hey, we are launching the Trenches!

Yay! I was just reminded by somebody the other day how this got announced, and then nothing happened. And hey, here it is! I look forward to seeing where the story goes, and also to an RSS feed whenever they get around to implementing it.
that was pretty dry for the very first comic

They already have an entrenched audience (the combined readership of PvP and PA) who are likely to give it at least a couple weeks before giving up. It's a story based comic, so hopefully they don't try to shoehorn a gag into every strip if it doesn't serve the story.

    Oh, and:

That implies that people are going to read the whole thread before posting their repeat question.

If this comic runs T-T does that mean there's going to be a new one tomorrow?

What crazy world are you people living in where you turn in a resume/application and get an interview the same day? Do companies not keep things on file in this world? Do they not have fax machines?

It only goes to the last post in the thread if you're already logged into the forum and have also read the entire thread

that's just how the new forum works.

I read each panel as being a separate event. I can see how people would connect the two car shots though.

Maybe he's not applying because he got fired/laid off/whatever

maybe he's applying because he quit his high-paying job so he could try and get his DREAM JOB of PLAYING VIDEO GAMES FOR A LIVING

and will proceed to have his soul crushed down into a fine paste as the comic progresses

I actually really love the concept of this, especially the, "There will also be a weekly story from a real-life tester about their real-life bug-questing experiences." and know this comic will be a HUGE hit at the office emails. Especially in the testing department. : )

I don't imagine many folks sit in their expensive car in the rain with the top down, because they're hopeful about something that has just happened. Maybe in a bad 80s movie? I dunno.

Also quite a few convertibles have such difficult to put up roofs that if you're close enough to your destination when it starts raining you'd probably get wetter trying to put it up than just driving with the top down.

He cant put the top up because the car is haunted.

This is also why he cant sell or trade it. Because even in the this tough ecconomy the nations citizens are still staunchly anti-ghost.

looks like a great comic! Also goose, your sig pic is the best one I have seen in a long time.

If the relative was wealthy enough, he could have had one of the really easy to put up roofs.

@cwgabriel: The Trenches now has an RSS feed!

If not a pretty hilarious bug, I guess the The Trenches RSS button is Mike's and Scott's idea of a joke? At least The Trenches has an RSS icon, if not RSS functionality.

What joke? It works for me.

It just takes me to another version of the page sans-RSS icon, and there's no functioning feed in sight. Nothing a browser recognizes, anyways.

If I hit the << button the URL changes to http://trenchescomic.com/comic/post/9811. I see major problems ahead with a DMYY date format, if that's what it is.

Just to point out that whilst on the website the story at the bottom is anonymous on the RSS feed the first post puts a name in front of the story. I am not sure it is the correct name as I remember one member of the PA office staff discussing testing a baseball game and it was not the one mentioned in the RSS feed.

What's the name on the RSS feed? Is it Porkfry? Because Porkfry was a game tester.

It was Erika, and since she would have been something like 9 years old when that game came out, I don't think she wrote the post.

The QA geek in me thought the exact same thing! :) So I spent the last hour working out exactly when it'll cause a collision. Assuming they stick to Tuesdays and Thursdays only, it won't be a problem until December 1, 2016. Maybe with the "seasonal" format, they'll work around it? Time will tell! See you in 5 years!

I'm confused how the first panel connects. There is no water in either the second or third panel.

I have spent 16 hours QA'ing super exciting video games so I'm wondering if I'm *insanely dense* just now.

Just curious, but why is the copyright on the comic 2010?
