jab jab short is important for hitconfirms

strong is important for punishes

fierce is for antiair and max damage combo enders

roundhouse is for s.rh and sweep

mk is great for frame traps, linking to sweep on counterhit, and option select supers

I want to learn Ryu or Ken because I still don't use FADCing as a standard matter of practice.

A good portion of Ken's big damage combos are a result of FADCing, so I figure it's a good place to start since my brother is learning Ryu.

I'm doing trials and what the fuck is a focus cancel? I'm doing it on accident sometimes but I don't know how!

And some of these commands are really confusing and/or I don't understand why my combos aren't being counted. Like Makoto's trial 13 goes jump hard kick -> medium kick -> and then it says M Hayate. I can't actually figure out what the M in this instance is supposed to indicate. I'm trying to use medium punch for the hayate but the combo drops before I can finish it. Am I right but just.. slow? (The fact that I'm on keyboard plus not exactly the greatest PC combine to make me not quite as quick as I'd like..)

Noob questions. Get used to them.

Edit: the real problem is doing EX focus cancel. I can't figure out how to reliably make it EX.

Edit: Nevermind I watched a video and figured out what to do for the focus cancel thing. Yay! Learning! And I guess I am just too slow. Boo! Not learning! And possibly input lag and/or me sucking!

The M is indeed meaning 'medium', so yeah you use medium punch

You got focus canceling.

EX moves are when you press two or more of a punch or kick to do a special move. so like an EX shoryuken would be the dragon punch motion + two punches

And yeah it's always an EX Focus Attack if it comes after any kind of attack

Most moves you can only FADC on the first hit, I believe, though there are a couple that you can wait until the second hit, like Ken's hard shoryuken.

But that second sentence might be total bullshit.
