Oh god that inspired me to look at local cats. Oh god I could adopt so many cats, but I want to go back to school.
My cat is so chill and would without doubt accept all into his snuggle family. The worst reception he ever gave anything was my brother's husky, my cat just used him as stairs.
Just read about Corky, the kitten in Fargo with backwards hind legs that underwent surgery so that his hind legs now point in the right direction. This made me cry (in a good way), and now it's your turn.
Pt2. Corky decides to check out his surroundings at the hospital just ONE WEEK after his legs were surgically turned around. We did not expect to see this until week three.
It's a breed of dog specifically designed to herd very ornery cattle for long distances across the extremely...aggressive...we'll say aggressive landscape of Australia. They're also in the top 10 for smartest and toughest breeds.
He's like 100 pounds of whoopass in a 10 pound bag. It's like a middle weight fighter. Sure there are bigger dogs who are stronger, and smaller dogs that may be faster, but it's the old "pound for pound'' comparison. I've never had a dog this strong and be this agile before, along with being this smart. Add in the extreme loyalty and bonding he's done in just a few months with the family, and it's incredible. Also frustrating when he can literally chew a coffee table down to nothing and goes through even the toughest Kong type toys in a few days.
My dad waited a couple of years to neuter my family's dog, but then he was almost too stupid to exhibit the behaviours of a typical male - never humped, wasn't even vaguely aggressive, etc.
Shara is assured that she has not been completely replaced
Looks like our cat's sister!

At least Whiskers is getting a happily ever after, probably.
And help! I am trapped on petfinder, looking at all the adoptable animals in my area. I am fixing to move back in with my parents; I can't adopt another pet right now!
Edit: I have just decided. I am going to volunteer at an animal shelter while I job hunt/wait for my medical situation to get sorted this summer.

Speaking of adopting, I've been approved! Once the paperwork goes through I will be taking the kitty home.
I had a cat when I was 10 or so. Friends of ours found her in the engine block of a car. My dad's not a pet person, so we weren't gonna keep her, but then she started purring as soon as he looked at her. She totally knew he was the one that needed convincing. Anyway, I can't remember what happened to her, but I remember we moved when I was 13 and the cat didn't go with us. I'm 32 now and this is my first cat since then.
I met her last night at her foster family's apartment. She's really sweet, although doesn't like being held. Wasn't wary of me at all. Chased my laser pointer for about 20 seconds then was all "Meh, it was fun for a while." and drifted off. Apparently she likes to drink directly from the tap and will jump on you in the night because she wants to play.
She's a little smaller than most cats I've been around, but I'm not sure how old she is. Pictures to be taken as soon as I bring her home!

It's actually my moving back into my mom's house that is allowing me to get a cat!

My roommate was allergic and also hates cats
My parents already have four cats, and I'm bringing mine with me, so there's not really room for another pet. Plus, I will hopefully moving out of state by the end of year, or possibly out of country for a while, so now is not the time.

Yay for you adopting! If the cat likes to drink from the faucet, you may want to look into a cat fountain. Something like this.
I got one of those and my cat would have nothing to do with it. She only drinks out of the leaky bathroom sink faucet. Luckily, water's included in my rent.

I'm hoping she'll relent and drink from her bowl, but if that's a non starter then I'll look into one of those fountains.
I live in Yellowknife, so my options for getting stuff in a hurry are pretty limited. :P
Back when I got my kitties they both had the flu, most likely from the contact with other cats at the shelter, and the girl didn't drink from the bowl so I tried to place her on the kitchen table and then she drank from the faucet.
My apartment at the time had a very small bathroom and even smaller sink and I knew a cat running around on the kitchen table wasn't a good idea. Luckily she started drinking from the bowl as she got better, but I did find this fountain that is ceramic and should be less prone to getting gunky.
Sorry, the page is Danish and I don't know if it is available outside Europe. It also looks a bit like a urinal so not the most attractive thing to have standing around.
Obligatory pictures of my two angels. Balder is the grey striper male and Freja the three coloured girl. Linked because the pictures are huge.
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us

"Uh.....it's not what it looks like, I swear."
EDIT: And no, I don't have to order stuff in Russian. :P I do have to pay with animal furs, though, as currency is pretty rare up here. I've gotten most of my cat supplies from the local trading post, but I'll probably have to order anything specialized like that fountain.
Does the mailman have to fight polar bears every day, or just once a week?
I see roadrunners all the time, but I've never seen a coyote chasing one. I know someone who did, though. It was not as funny as the cartoons make it out to be.
@Nought I would ask if you play SR, but there are only 36 D6s in the container.

Pff. We don't fight Polar Bears. We ride 'em.
That's like, day 1 when you move here. Finding a nest of Polar Bears and fighting one until it submits. It'll be loyal to you forever after that.
Our kitties were at the shelter for three years before we adopted them. Three years of being on display at the Petsmart fair every Saturday, and still no one adopted them.
I still check the sanctuary's website, and while all the kittens get adopted quickly (at one point they had NO kittens for adoption, which made me so happy!) the adult cats stay on there for months and months.

That legitimately makes me really sad to think of

I cannot keep my eyes dry at this article.
I mean, it's sad and heartwarming enough as it is

Thank God tigers aren't built for climbing as well as leopards are. Could you imagine the kind of Death From Above a Siberian tiger could inflict?
he's very noble-looking
leopards are already pretty fucking scary

The idea of a tiger scaling up the side of our building into our apartment during the summer is terrifying.
I can't help it. They look so soft!
Nuzzle that tiger belly.
literally everything about this makes me mad

A slime will begin to coat the plastic if you don't physically wash it by hand few days.
Yeah, I just make it a point to clean it every Sunday.
