Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Deus Ex Human Revolution. What system should I get it for. Please no spoilers.
I am picking up Deus Ex next week (payday) and I need to know what system I should pick the game up for. PC PS3 or Xbox 360. Normally I would play it on the PS3 because I have a preference for that controller (little hands) and I like console FPS over PC FPS, but with games like Dragon Age which I played for the PC I played the expansion while I was at my friends house on his xbox and the game play difference was night and day. The game was clearly made for the PC and the console was just a port. So is the Deus Ex difference simply hey I have a mouse and keyboard, hey I have a controller? Or is there a game play difference.

In addition, loading times are much, much faster on a decent computer than on either of the console platforms.
I pronounce it bee-log.

This is very untrue.
Deus Ex installed on my Xbox's HD had very reasonable load times, no longer than any other 360 game.

Nancy Grace. Its painful, but worth it for the load times.
You're not the first person ive seen say the 360 Deus Ex load times stink. I wonder why they're slower for some people?

PS3/360:
+If price is a factor at all, you might want to go with this deal. You can also probably sell it back to Best Buy for a decent price (currently $24).
PC:
+Comes with an Onlive copy of the game if you buy a hard copy of DE:HR at a non-Gamestop location. Great gift for friends with crappier computers, but good internet connections.
+If you happen to have an SSD to save the game to, load times are pretty fast, at least after you've patched the game. Even without the SSD though, the joystiq post (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/22/deus-ex-human-revolution-loading-times-compared/) leads me to believe that the loading times may be faster than those of the consoles.
+If you have a buff video card, this will probably look marginally better.
Gameplay:
If you're good enough at standard shooters on consoles, this should be no different. I didn't experience any slowdown on the PS3, so I think that probably isn't an issue for the 360 either.
Conclusion:
If you have a particularly good computer, I think the better experience is found on the PC. If not, I think one of the consoles will suffice.
I pronounce it bee-log.
Hrmmm Most people here got it on the PC or 360 (and the newer 360 S's have beefier hardware under the hood so it makes sense that there is a discrepancy in install time), how is the PS3 version?
Cantido, there's a long Deus Ex thread and it would probably be a better place for you to ask that question. I think this thread was created expressly to avoid spoilers.

To directly answer your question, there's additional information on the PC in your office at Sarif Industries after that conversation. You can read them upon your return from your current location.

I played it without any problem on the PS3. But from what I've seen online, the the AA in the 360 version makes it look a bit better on average (http://www.lensoftruth.com/head2head-deus-ex-human-revolution-analysis/), and you have the ability to install and cut down on loading times.
wakaranai: I see, the differences seem only a matter of preference.
