Is this something to be concerned about?

Might be a problem with your HDMI cable, have you tried a different one?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's the HDMI cable. I ordered 4 HDMI cables from Monoprice a few months ago, and when I plugged the first one into my PS3, it looked just like that. I tried the other three, and another one did the exact thing, while the other two looked completely fine.

I was kinda disappointed in Monoprice on that actually. I guess I should see how to sent the two bad cables back, if it's not too late already.

Just contact them, they're really good about refunding if you have any sort of problem. A lot of times it's just a run of cable that is bad and they'll get you your money back or just send you new cables.

Is the Hot Shots Tennis/Hot Shots Golf 2-pack available on PSN? I'm having a helluva time finding it. The rest of the dual packs seem to be available, so I don't know why this wouldn't be.

Well, I -was- going to post the Drop, but it was a day late when I didn't have internet. And now it's Update day, so here's The update which is nicer to have anyway.

So a fairly light week in -new- content, with Datura being at the forefront if you're looking for another use for a Move wand or want a weird, artsy experience as Plastic can only deliver. (It's not Move-exclusive) But the sales do a good job of making up for it I'd say. All the Uncharted 2 MP stuff is now free for some reason and that Giant Pixeljunk sale is going on.

That was my second guess. If you've turned off upscaling on the PS3 and it's still displaying at a higher resolution than native (480i/576i), the problem could be with your TVs internal upscaler.

What a dire update. I guess I'll buy PixelJunk Sidescroller and download the Spec Ops demo but that's about it. I can import Binary Domain from the UK for half the price I'm guessing it'll be priced on the NZ PSN (probably NZ$45-50) so why would I bother? Sales are mostly for shovelware as well (though I guess Disney's PS1 stuff wasn't awful for the time).

Racers? No. But the others? Yes, yes, yes. As for the 3 in 1, I've no idea but looking at the price, I'm guessing Racers, Monsters and Eden.

Do those games include the Encore DLC? I'm assuming not.

We got a Drop and it's a hefty one.
    PlayStation Network

PixelJunk 4am – Utilizing the PlayStation Move motion controller and its full range of motion, players can use PixelJunk 4AM’s unique Virtual Audio Canvas to mix tracks and experiment with audio effects to create breathtaking compositions they can share and broadcast to anyone and everyone!

Prototype 2 (w/ Radnet Access Pack) – Prototype 2 continues the shape-shifting, open-world action franchise, this time focusing on Sgt. James Heller and his mission to destroy Prototype’s original anti-hero, Alex Mercer.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode II – Available exclusively via download, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II continues the addictive side scrolling action that Sonic fans love in an all-new 2D adventure. Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II comes complete with a totally reworked physics engine and all-new character animations as it expands the Sonic 4 storyline with new areas to speed through and new challenges to face.

Goldeneye 007 Reloaded (PS Move Compatible) – You are Bond, James Bond. Your mission is to recover the key to a devastating Soviet orbital weapon, GoldenEye. This reimagining of the action classic GoldenEye allows players to channel Daniel Craig’s lethal and gritty James Bond in an innovative, modern take on the legendary Bond adventure, GoldenEye. GoldenEye 007: Reloaded improves on the Wii hit with HD visuals and realistic environments running at 60-frames per second.

Jam Live Music Arcade – Jam Live Music Arcade offers a new approach to the music genre with a real-time live music sandbox that allows the player to immediately build and customize their very own tunes. Starting with any one of the 30+ licensed songs featured in the game (including hits from Modest Mouse, Fallout Boy, Fatboy Slim, Rise Against, Atmosphere and more), you get to jam with and remix all aspects of the song — guitar, bass, drums, synth and vocals — to experiment with the song and re-create it to their own personality.

Rock of Ages – Two castles stand opposed, bridged by an uneven, narrow pathway. One is yours, and you’re quite fond of it. See how the parapets catch the sunlight ever so stylishly? The other is your enemy’s; they’re a jerk, and their crappy crenellations are driving down your property values. Also, their castle sucks, justification enough to try crush it using an enormous rolling stone. Unfortunately, they’ll have a chance to plan and build up some security, doing everything they can to derail your razing rock.

Myst – A direct port of the PC hit, MYST is a classic puzzle and exploration game. The premise is simple: the player must explore the island of Myst, researching the notes of a mysterious man, Atrus, and tracing his exploration of several distinct worlds. Through Atrus’ notes, players find solutions to puzzles that open gateways to these worlds, which they then explore to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Atrus and his two sons. The majority of the game is simply walking around the various locales, making connections between the cryptic information given and the puzzles presented. In this sense, MYST demands a great deal from the player careful attention must be paid to the slightest details. This game is more about observation and the ability to think outside the normal logic you might be accustomed to using. If you’re looking for a superb intellectual challenge, then MYST is exactly what you need.

    PlayStation 2 Classic

Red Faction 2 – Red Faction II is the sequel to the popular first person shooter, Red Faction, which debuted on the PC and PS2 in 2001. Red Faction II is run on an enhanced version of Volition’s Geo-Mod engine and incorporates an in-depth storyline. Players will go on multi-objective mission with a whole arsenal of weapons and items at their disposal. Players are able to control a variety of vehicles and fight with elite squad members at their side. Red Faction II introduces refined graphics, advanced AI, customizable computer opponents for multiplayer and even new multiplayer game modes.

So there's a little bit of everything between PixelJunk 4AM, Prototype 2, Sonic 4: Episode 2, Rock of Ages, the Goldeneye Remake and the rest that's coming out. I'm sure most people will find something that they're looking for!

PoP 08 was awesome, it's definitely worth that price.

Despite my post last week, I gave in and bought Binary Domain off the PSN. I hadn't taken into account the PS+ discount, so it only ended up NZ$10 and at that point I didn't really care. 11GB though, so the download took for god damn ever.

Arkham City demo is also now available. Only in the US PSN store. And PoP '08 is fantastic, I loved every second of it, including the much criticised end. The DLC sorted something out there but honestly, I was content with the game. I might pick it up again seeing as its nice and cheap. If they'd put the sale on in the bloody UK store.

Quiet again this week. I've never played Sonic 4 Ep.1, so I'm not sure if Ep.2 is something to be excited about.
Having dealt with the PS2 version of Deus Ex many years ago, I can't really recommend it to anyone. It's not completely terrible, just clearly inferior to the PC version.
I'm interested in anything that has the PixelJunk name on it but the Move only thing kinda rules me out of 4am for the time being.

All of this was taken from the PS Blog podcast, so it's legit. I guess there's always the possibility of some of it being pushed back at the last minute though.

So Rizzi, that's where the Monster World collection went. Who knows if it'll come out on our PSN but from what I remember, Sega have always been pretty good with the multi-region releases, so I'm guessing it'll be fine.

Oh and the link also mentions that they'll be updating the PSP/Minis compatibility again, so it seems like my guess that they'll make it into a weekly thing was correct.

Fuck, if it doesn't come out on ours I'll just log in to my US account and buy it that way.
Speaking of, where's the best place to get US PSN cards? I wanted to get Mortal Kombat and Ys 1 & 2 Chronicles for my Vita.

Check out this GAF thread. I bookmarked it a couple of months back but I'm hoping it still works.

bestbuy website looks like it would work as they sell codes via email straight through to the buyer.

im pretty excited about that doctor who game. me and the lady are huge doctor who fans, and its all based around co-op (i think? info has been kinda sparse). also some super quality old sega games! i hope the ports are solid.

and really why even release that daggerdale game after all this time? it came out a year ago on the 360, and got shit reviews on top of that! i remember being pretty excited about it a year ago but now who gives any kind of a fuck.
