There is a part of me that has a bit of a morbid curiosity about fighting in a duel, but for the most part I am happy that I will most likely never ever actually do so.
I really like this play mode.
Well, medical science kinda blew until recently. Our very own So It Goes would be super dead for the previous thousands of years of human history from an exploding appendix which is now a normal non-dangerous procedure. So being shot or stabbed was not a good prognosis.
It's good times. I feel like you really gotta pick draft mode so you can ban rammus and gangplank, otherwise you have to either deal with or run their shenanigans yourself.

He really is though. Boots 5, the cap faster item and then just tons of tank. Never fight, constantly run away and back cap, either they send only one guy to stop you but he's too slow to stop you, or they peel off multiple people to deal with you and then your team walks all over them. The last game I played with him our team was pretty awful, like, two of our guys would battle creeps instead of capping an abandoned enemy point, and we still won pretty easily because Rammus is just so obnoxious.
I think its something that an organized team could definitely deal with but against how people play right now (everyone running around, trying new stuff, good times) it pretty much just wins. Once the game is more 'figured out' I'm sure such shenanigans will fall apart, but, for now it's just easier to ban him imo so people can mess around with more interesting strategies.
I have done just blind pick and haven't run into it yet, though every game has a ramus. Personally I am just playing other characters to mess around. Poppy has been my main, she rocks folks. Jax does great though I probably build him wrong. Garren is decent. Gangplank I have played with is good but nothing like Ramus that you describe.
And I think Zilean can do the damage to that Ramus strat. His speed and abilities work well for chasing and keeping up. Get boots 5 plus his buff. Its a thought at least.
I am going to grab Mundo here to try out, I think he has a good mix for dominion as well.
Xin is just really solid at manhandling people and Nocturne oh my god he does SO MUCH DAMAGE. I started off with a brutalizer, and then on top of the 15% armor pen you get from being in dominion he just shreds people. His ult is really good at saving points in the nick of time too. He's a little squishy though if you don't pull off his spell shield at the right time though.
Zilean is really solid in dominion because his bombs hit really hard and also because his passive increased EXP gain applies to the exp your team is constantly generating which is just sexy.
In the spirit of low-item runs, I accomplished this with restrictions:
Pacifistic (mostly. You-Know-Who died, but the other "bosses" were fortunately easily bugged).
Limited upgrades: pistols starts at "trained" and never went up; electronics and lockpicking were eventually maxed out. Still annoyed at the random 80% locks that force two picks / multitools.
No augmentations. Beyond the flashlight, I never installed an aug nor (obviously) upgraded one.
So tell me true, [chat]. Is this sort of thing possible in Deus Ex: Human Revolution?
Yeah Irelia is very solid, her self heal on the ult can be a life saver.
I played her a few times on summoners rift when she first came out. Love her to death. And her abilities are on a quick recharge for the faster paced play of dominion. She is so much fun.
