I just finished my latest round of treatment Josh. If you or the lady have any questions that need a non-doctor answer, please, feel free to ask. Or if you just want to talk, I'm always around.

My thoughts are with you two.

My wife is a personal trainer and she teaches athletic classes (Zumba, PiYo, etc.) at the local gym. She's pretty much an athlete. Should she be slowing that shit down or would it be better for her to have the positive mindset that comes with still being as active as possible?

Depending on her treatment scale, it will change.

At low to even moderate doses, depending on she handles it individually, she could remain at least somewhat active. On my ramp up I was still doing P90X (albeit modified for my legs), once we hit the first phase, I was down to 2 or 3 times a week, in the third phase, and heaviest doses, I was doing good to walk to my car without sobbing from exhaustion.

But I was hardly an athlete on day one, so I'm betting from my personal experience, that she'll be able to handle it fairly well. But really the doctor will tell you to "rest and only do as much as you can without over-stressing".

That's a Doctor answer. Fuck that. It was the over-stressing that kept me going. If she's a trainer, she'll know when too much is too much.

All I can offer is words. Words suck.

I'm sorry (in an empathy way), it sucks (in an obvious way), focus on what's most important (in an unnecessary advice way), and let us amuse you with what words we have left available to us.

I don't really know about that. She drives herself until she collapses, even when she doesn't have cancer. I'm just not sure if I need to be the voice that tells her to slow down and take it easy sometimes or if that'll just make her feel helpless.

I guess I'll just have to be sensitive to whatever she's going through when it comes up.

I love indian foods with a passion, but even walking near them caused me to lose it during treatment.

this last time, personally I devolved into a child, the only things that didn't make me immediately and violently ill were things like spaghettios and goldfish crackers. very bland, very soft, very easy to digest.

What she can handle will again be a very individual thing. During previous rounds, I've only been able to handle ice chips and plain yogurt.

In others I was able to handle most things, but select foods would just empty my stomach on contact or even smell.

It's also different with me since mine is centralized in my stomach and intestines. Her mileage will vary and unfortunately it's something that will differ person to person.

I would advise that if you two need to talk something out (which is never a bad idea) that you do it early.

Last thing you need to be doing is finally trying to come to an understanding about something important when you are both at the rock bottom of an emotional roller coaster.

    Depends on her treatment scale.

a few hours normally, though my last round was "rapid-infusion" therapy.

it sucked. bad. but I was in and out in 90 minutes, give or take 15.
