it eats spirit like whoa
I found that all of his skills pretty much heat Spirit like whoa. The bell, from which I am under the impression is like his elite skill given to him real early, feels useless when you get it. You don't have the spirit generation to use it often, and it doesn't feel strong enough for the amount of spirit it does take. I was left with the feeling of "Why would I use anything other than my combo move and dragon kick thing?" when playing the Monk. His blinding skill is good mechanically, but the effect leaves more to be desired.
At least in the Beta, the Monk feels pretty bland to me. Deadly Reach and Crippling Wave feel so similar. Fists of Thunder, while feeling different, gives the same effect as Deadly Reach and Crippling Wave in terms of killing power/area. Then you choose between the kick and bell for finishing moves and because of there terrible spirit generation you choose kick. Once you get Dashing Strike you are all "Fuck yea, now I can move all over the screen fast!" then you realize you must have a target for it to work, and then you are all just :? .
Stylisticly I love the Monk. His character, aura and all that is really appealing to me. I mean, he has a really sweet beard and sounds eastern European. But in the beta he just feels weak compared to the Barbarian, Wizard and Witch Doctor. And so I will be a big burly Barbarian for my first playthrough.
Yeah, I was a barb first for d2, and warrior mained in d1 (though in d1 in had a warrior with maxed spells, so)
though my fav in d2 was the sorc, so that'll be a close 2nd, I think
What are the chances of a huge invite wave near release to stress and test the systems like they did with SC2?

the level 6 rune for the basic lightning punch attack is a teleport + dark lightning nova thing

yeah I don't think the beta is really long enough to make you really need much of your skill set
pretty sure a lot of the skills I don't bother taking now will become critical in higher difficulty areas

Depends. I mean, since hellmeph runs in D2 were king it didn't matter much. Teleport spam and then meteor drop.
But maxing your damage output would be really nice if they do heroic modes like they say they will.
