then they aren't successful enough as musicians to warrant getting paid, is the general idea

Most of the acting work I do is for no pay
But it's because I know nobody is making money

And I figure at this point I get paid in experience
Which I have more of now than a year ago
Which creates opportunities to get paid

But to me, this is the biggest problem with the current run of episodes.

Crazy cat lady was funny because at most you'd see her once a season. Now days they just throw her in there for something whacky.

In fact the new intro represents everything that is wrong with the Simpsons, it's too concerned with getting jokes from back referencing that it doesn't spend any time making new ones.

Yeah I will probably skip it, that's not the point.

The point is I care about the death of the show as much as those people were so devastated by the death of Michael Jackson. It's a media icon. For me, personally, the Simpsons was the most important piece of culture for my generation.

The difference is, this death will be pre-meditated, so we can actually have a really good time with it.

that was literally exactly the point I was making.

It's just a symbolic thing. If not for Simpsons references, I probably wouldn't have had any means of communicating with my friends throughout all of highschool.

So yeah, it's definitely past its prime, but it's still a significant event. I mean, the series is only about 2 years younger than I am. There's probably some deep "fear of mortality" shit mixed in there!

I just wanted to get in an opportunity for that bad joke there. Honestly though, the movie at least made the Simpsons more relevant as of pretty recent since I think most fans and longtime fans alike can agree that it was pretty good.

Unfortunately I can't think of anyone I know personally who would geek out with me watching a marathon of Simpsons episodes if the final one really is coming soon.
