Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

Here's a few of the ones I remember having:
That last one? That was the SHIT. It was basically a battery-powered motor, and you could put little wheels on the motor, and connect them to other wheels by rubber band. This allowed you to make an intricate system of belts and pulleys that allowed you to pretty much do anything you could engineer. It was awesome.

A lot of the Creator sets get that way after they stop making them. I think I paid $150 or something in the store.
That's the same thing that's happened to the Creator Eiffel Tower.
Memories are flooding back
My favourite:
I remember me and my dad building it on christmas...
Nowadays you need to own a diamond mine to be able to afford the tiniest lego

My Fiancee has the Eiffel Tower set and it is bad ass and HUGE. 3ft tall. It was a bitch to build too because almost all the pieces are grey. It made it so hard to find the right piece. Took her about a week of building in the evenings to get it done.
she got this last year for christmas and it is pretty bad ass. They needed to make a passenger car set for it though.

You would hear rumors of LEGO kits that had motors, but you dismissed such talk, since clearly such a complex item had no place in the LEGO universe. But then you'd stumble upon a SEARS catalog from the US and there it would be, motorized LEGOs. Wild times man.
That one is pretty cool. I've almost bought it a couple times.
I'm not sure what I want next if I ever finish this carousel, though. The motorized part actually is really cool, with the moving horses and everything.
Fuck you they were awesome.
Also I had a few good lego sets.
I had this
and one of the pirate subs.
My stupid step brother fucked them all up though.
Are you from one of them up raining chocolate snow bass ackward countries?
I got the Ice Planet stuff. The Deep Freeze Defender, that Ice Sat V thing and I think some other vehicle. All of the Ice Station / Ice Planet variety. No boxes or anything fancy.
How did my parents put up with my brothers and I raking through the tubs of lego on weekends? Just KRSSSH KRSSH KRSSH, for hours on end, looking for that elusive piece.
I thought about trying to bring in some sort of system for organising everything but it never got off the ground.
so awesome
STEAM ID
Got this the other day, can't wait to be done with this paper so I can put it together
then I built another one with another 3rd
then I did the thing that came naturally and combined them, making one about a meter long.
Then a baby kangaroo (not shitting you) ran up the hallway and broke it to pieces
That one is cool because if you pull the little tab on the back, the wings swivel.
The doors and trunk open on this one.
I want to get this one, but $60....
I've also got some smaller Creator sets that I can't remember. Also some of the Star Wars stuff from around with Episode 1 came out, including an X-Wing and a TIE Interceptor. I should dig my legos out as it's been a couple of years. My son is getting close to the right age.
But I just can not justify the 400-600 a pop for each.
Trunk Club
I have these:
Here they are on my shitty coffee table next to a footlong steel rule:
I want this one too, but I really can't afford more Lego now:
"If you don't know who Kendra is, I'm officially not speaking to you."
It's the only new lego thing that really strikes me as being fantastic.
Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.
I had something similar.
I am sure it was called The Millenium Car, but much googling tells me to shut up, that never happened.
But yeah - very similar design, but with a sweet ass V8 engine with working pistons.
Assembling that shit correctly was a key moment in my childhood. Watching the pistons work? Man. That was an achievement.
My Explorien Starship came today.
It is huge.
I can't even remember how big it must have seemed when I was a kid.
Cause damn, the thing is huge.
