A) There never was an actual surplus it was a myth. It was close to a balanced budget but not a surplus.

B) We'd perhaps be balanced at a 90s tax rate if we had anywhere near a 90s budget size but we don't. You couldn't close a $1 trillion dollar deficit if you taxed the rich at double the current rates.

It was implied that the federal budget would be operating at a surplus should the Bush tax cuts be repealed or allowed to expire. I posted a study that proved that even if there was a linear relationship between tax rates and tax revenue (which is beyond debatable) that the implication is not even remotely accurate given the gravity of the current and projected deficit.

My statements in this regard have nothing to do with wealth distribution or class struggle issues that are at the heart of the OWS movement. I'm simply pointing out that proposed tax raises don't come anywhere close to solving our deficit issues. I have no idea why you would feel an urge to suggest I "go suck a cock". This isn't partisan politics I'm presenting, it's fucking math.
