So no swaps, no refunds and no date switches. I'm thinking it'll be the last time we spend $100 at PAX. Really disappointed with their lack of responsiveness and flexibility, particularly since they changed the line-up pretty much at the last minute.
The passes are designed so that if you want to see everything, you get a 3-day pass. If you can't make it all 3 days, you get individual passes for the days you can make. It's incredibly rare that people purchase the passes based on the schedule since most of the time they sell out before the schedule is released. Even when the schedule was posted, it was posted with "as always, times/places are subject to change". That's the reality of a fluid event. Sorry it didn't work out for you, and if you can't handle not knowing the /exact/ schedule of events before going to a convention, conventions with fluid schedules probably aren't going to be much fun for you.
so, anyone have a guess as to when we'll have the pax maps of the bcec? will they be similar to last year or are old maps useless? i know i'm just being impatient, but in planning out what panels i can get to i'd like to get an idea of whether i'll have to run across the con or if two panels are right next door.

I haven't seen an official one yet. You can check out the BCEC general floor plan, but it's not PAX specific.
I'd imagine the official one will be out in the near future.

Last year's PAX East map is very similar to this year's (unofficial and not yet public) map, but there are some changes. I expect the map will be released within 2 weeks, but might be wrong.

PAX will always be held on the best weekend for PAX. Sometimes that will be a bad weekend for you; I'm sorry.

Yeah, I get that. I did try and get 3-day passes for my husband but they were already sold out. Realistically would have been hard for him to get away that long with 4 kids, one special needs. If Supercommuter played locally I would have tried to get him tickets but it looks like they are much further west than us...
Not everyone who wants to go to PAX has the flexibility that you describe. Doesn't make 'em any less of a fan (he's been reading PA since before we started dating, over a decade ago!) or make it any less disappointing when they don't work out.

yeah, i think the unfortunate reality is that forgers and scalpers have totally ruined it for everyone. pax HAS to be super strict and can't afford to have that kind of flexibility with returns and exchanges when forging is happening at such a high level it's become a safety issue. so it definitely sucks that they can't be more accommodating to situations like this, but sadly that's what happens when people (forgers) are jerks and just want to make $$$.

It's a direct response to what happened at Prime last year. Forged passes were out of control and they had to do something to combat it.
With that said, even with different band line up all is not lost. Saturday looks to have a great set of panels and events along with all the other items that are each day. Maybe supercommuter will hang out at the Jam Space...you never really know!
Anyone else dieing to know??? It's 15th and not a peep on who is presenting there! Last year seem the exhibitor list and floor layout was out way early in advance.
After hearing arenanet won't be there showing off GW2, who are you looking forward to seeing the most?

The maps usually aren't out super early. They may be taking a little longer this year, but it's not outside of normal operating procedure.
I've been working on a board game and am looking for people to play it. I figured that I would sit in the table top area and invite people to try it out. I'm not looking to sell anything yet, just looking for testers and to see if people are interested, maybe giving people information for a kickstarter. Will this be frowned upon, or will I be taking anything away from those legitimately there trying to sell their products?
Oh no, the cut-off for passes being mailed has passed? I just (30 minutes ago) picked up Friday and Sunday badges. Just to be clear, I should NOT expect these to come in the mail, right?
Also, if a friend of mine is an Exhibitor, is there any info on when their day is done? He's just saying "When we finish".

Well, the expo hall hours are on the schedule, but what his duties are for his booth are known only to him/his coworkers, so "When we finish." is the best anyone here can tell you. I've known some exhibitors to be cleaned up and out of the expo hall in under 30 minutes after close, but some have lots to do and stay late into the night.

I'm not sure if this has been answered yet, but will there be a PC Freeplay room like in 2010? (Not sure if there was one in 2011 because I've only been to PAX East)

Yes, there will be all the freeplay rooms you've come to love and expect at PAX.

Thanks for the help!
If you mean when the exhibition hall is closed, it closed at 6:00pm last year, I believe.
Right, but as @jaberwockynmt stated, that doesn't necessarily indicate when they are "done". As an exhibitor at other types of trade shows, just because the floor is closed doesn't mean exhibitors are done working.

True; I worked the booth for our company last year, and while we were out at 6:30pm on Friday night, Saturday we were out at 7:30 after a social hour and Sunday we had to strike.
i noticed on the new PAX site awesomeness there is a shuttle schedule. however a listing of what shuttle routes cover what hotels is absent. is this information still in flux? or was it accidentally forgotten?

The hotel coverage is on OnPeak. Each hotel that has shuttle service has a shuttle service icon.
i guess i just would of expected a key of what hotels are serviced by what shuttle route to accompany the shuttle route timetable.
There is no shuttle icon on the OnPeak website of the hotel i am staying at (the Marriott Long Wharf), and im trying to figure out the logistics of travel to and from the BCEC. looks like my best bet would be to take a shuttle to the hilton boston financial district and walk from there.

It was mentioned elsewhere by DiscoDave that more shuttle information (routes, etc) is to come "soon".

thanks Beker, the information that i was looking for has emerged on the web site. looks like a 5-6 min walk between the shuttle terminus and my hotel. quite manageable. although i'm sure after a full day at PAX it will seem a lot longer.

No one here actually works for Penny Arcade, or has access to that kind of information until PA releases it to the public. Just keep a look out on the main PAX site for when the floor maps are released with exhibitor locations.
What size/how many shuttles are there per run to and from each stop? Our group will be at the Hilton Financial, so (at least in the morning after getting so much needed rest) walking to BCEC would be no problem unless there's gonna be a plethora of shuttles leaving each 30 minute interval.

How do they expect people to buy tickets then if nobody knows whos going to be there? I'm not buying a ticket until I see a complete list.
PAX East is nearly sold out (3-day and Saturday passes are gone), so a lot of tickets!
The list will be released soon. We just gotta be patient.

If you are looking for a specific vendor, you can ask that vendor directly. By now, many companies have confirmed that they will be at PAX through other sources. A full list will be along eventually.

Well, to answer your question, i dont think the pax organizers 'expect' people to do anything, but i can think of two reasons off the top of my head on why attendees would buy tickets before the final exhibitor list is released. One: The companies who were around last pax and the companies who generally make their presence at trade shows can be reasonably assumed to likely be around again this time. Two: There is more to pax than just exhibitors.

Update.
Sorry guys.
That tweet was yesterday, so looks like not quite yet, but presumably tomorrow or the next day would be the first batch of shipments.
