finally registered a desura account. went from 0 to 53 games in 5 minutes.
I favorite'd the 5 that aren't on steam
I did pretty much the same thing with the first Royale Bundle, not that many games though. I'm glad I did, if you are into quirky indy stuff (which I assume you are, being in this thread and all) there are some really worthwhile things on Desura. Like Sonar for instance. The Alpha Funding page of the store is nice too, and an idea I really like. Which reminds me, I hope Kenshi is part of the Alpha Fund Bundle that's coming up soon.
But Serious Sam games aren't really indie games are they? With the exception of DoubleD.
That kinda misses the point of all these indie bundles.
The latest HIB contains Shank, which were published by EA. The Steam keys can even be redeemed in Origin if you want to.
Publishers are different from developers. Shank was developed by an indie company. Bastion is also an indie game but was published by Warner Brothers for example. But yes, I now understand that Serious Sam's Croteam is a small indie-ish company.
Going forward, we're planning to stick to one 'big' monthly bundle (the next being the Valentine's bundle, opening pre-orders in early February!), and keeping everyone interested with more lightning packs and our Alphas offering - finally coming in mid-February.
preorder for the valentine's bundle is up. looks like they upped the base minimum purchase to $4, so I guess it makes sense to preorder now
The games offered this time include a fantastical first-person action-adventure game (Steam for PC), an IGF-nominated puzzle adventure title (Steam for PC and Mac, Desura for PC and Linux, DRM-free PC, Mac and Linux download), a 'scorching' single and multiplayer arcade-strategy game (Steam for PC and Mac), and a world premiere on PC for a pair of retro RPG-defense games (Desura for PC, DRM-free PC download).

I own so many indie games now I'm just not comfortable pre-ordering these things sight unseen with vague hints.
Since this time the pre-order price is the minimum price it can fall to I think I'll go ahead and buy it anyway.
Even if it ends up being games I'm not interested in or already have you can always gift the extra keys.
Soulcaster 1 & 2 are awesome. They're like Gauntlet with a tower defense bent (instead of regular attacks, you temporarily summon warriors who fight for you).
Hoard's a fun arcade score attack game but I found the PC version to be buggy.
Can't comment on the other 2 though I've heard good things.
I think that the internet has been for years on the path to creating what is essentially an electronic Necronomicon: A collection of blasphemous unrealities so perverse that to even glimpse at its contents, if but for a moment, is to irrevocably forfeit a portion of your sanity.

the bundle is absolutely worth it for Zeno Clash if you don't already have it

I'm considering doing this too. So many games to register and a few that are Desura only.
Does it work just like Steam? Hope it isn't a memory hog.

Especially considering the IRB's have been rather lackluster overall.
the speculation is Soulcaster 1 & 2, which are pretty good games

Just consider the rest of the bundle a bonus
That was pretty much my exact reasoning when I bought it, the other games look pretty decent too so it's a nice bonus
