Like. If you realize you're doing as much harm as good, why not step away, re-evaluate, and decide it's not the right thing to do?
Allegedly a voice of reason.

Sword of the Stars II is downloading. Soon I will lead the Space Dolphins on their crusade to remove the lesser species from the galaxy via lasers and falling rocks.
Yeah, how dare he stop what he was doing when he felt that his work wasn't received in the way he wanted it to be
that's so pretentious
It IS. Not everyone is going to get your deeper meaning. That's no reason to take your ball and go home.
is he obligated to stay in the public sphere? that's silly. he wanted to do x, and too many people took it as y. he was uncomfortable, so he left.
he didn't tell you that you had to feel white guilt, or whatever. he has given like, a handful of interviews. he hasn't become a black panther and ranted about the terrible spectre of white laughter.
he made some money and got famous and then was uncomfortable with how his work was received so he left.
i don't really know on what grounds you can shit on that.

What is he, a public servant? He can stop whenever he wants to, for whatever reason he wants to.
I love to draw and one day I'd love to make music, too. If people don't receive it the way I want them to, and I don't like what my work is being transformed into in the public sphere (which ultimately is what the work is going to end up being - the public's interpretation of it) I will absolutely divorce myself from it, or even just stop.
There are so many people in the world who have done this, Chappelle isn't the first, won't be the last, and I completely understand.

All Feral ever does now is out-source his opinion to other people and then say "pretty much"!
Pretty much.
every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

I never said he was a public servant or that he owed anyone anything. What I AM saying is that I think more people got the subtext than he thinks and he based his decision on a bunch of college bros. I do not think his reasons for leaving are nearly as pure and profound as you think they were.

You may think that, but he was the one performing in front of thousands of people every night. I think he might have a better grasp on his work than you do.
So, I just watched yesterday's episode of Community. I thought it was excellent and hilarious and one of the best of all three seasons.
I'm now going to venture into the D&D thread. If the general assessment is opposite mine, that will probably be the last time I venture into that thread.

Those "college bros" included network officials encouraging him to play up the minstrelsy aspects and play down the social commentary.

When you're pointing at racism with your art to expose it and people are laughing because "racism is funny", that's the wrong reasons.
Yeah, there is a huge difference

You're right. He should have turned the car around and ruined the trip for everyone because one kid had a tantrum. I am totally wrong here.

Well, you are, and your analogy is flawed.
Are you familiar with minstrel shows?
Oh no. I just normally really don't like spicy food.

And that would entirely be in his rights.

I'm not saying he shouldn't :P.
But I would miss the troll porn .
Hussie has a surprisingly high tolerance for troll porn, really.

There are quite a few lubricants that use either cinnamon or small amounts of capsaicin for a warming effect
