So, this was my first main game, and the first time I ran a game by myself. I hope everyone had as much fun playing as I did running it. Sorry it ran a bit long, somehow all of the damage dealers died quickly, while the healers survived for a very long time.
First thing: Holy crap it is a ton of work to setup and run a main. I think I had 22 pages written just of roles and OP. I had a spreadsheet to automate vote counting (Not that any votes were very close) but all the actions I kept track of manually including hit point tracking. Hopefully someone can let me know a better way to do this at some point.
I went with the theme based on one of my favorite games, Planescape:Torment and hopefully some people who havenβt played it have checked it out. I tried to avoid taking too many major characters from it and to make my own story which vaguely fit in the theme. I also tried to use enough of the Cant to flavor the game, but not too much to make it unintelligible for people unfamiliar with it.
The Devils and Demons both had ten players each, which led to the high amount of mafia in the game. I did this to compensate for them having to compete against eachother, the village, a Deva faction, and the Serial Killer all out to get them. They each had a seer, a specialist, three heavy units, three light units, and a roleblocker. The Demons had a lot more damage potential, and managed many of the kills, while the devils had damage over time, regeneration, and healing.
Cayrus was the demon special unit, able to eat any corpse that was not incinerated and gain their looks and their powers. Arivia had the ability to heal, give people the disease that killed Infidel and add herself to the narrationβs death count. I hadnβt expected her to use that ability quite like that but was impressed with the devilishness of it. I tried to answer the clarification requests related to it fairly but without directly giving her away. Was I fair with it?
REG Rysk was the only one in the village who could get role names of other players, but he had to post insanely in order for his power to work.
Running a game with Infidel in it was really enlightening. Nearly every seer targeted him on day 1. This obviously helped him to setup a network very quickly.
The Neutrals had some interesting choices to make, the Devas had nearly the same victory condition as the village, but their only abilities were to buff the mafia. Ideally helping them to kill eachother. A piece of theme I took from one of Triasβ in-game comments, that Rawkking actually quoted on his proboard.
Bedlam and SeGaTai both had the option of making friends and surviving or trying to wipe out the Deva faction and exiting. Bedlam also had the option of converting the Devils to his Victory condition once SeGaTai died.
The Pillar of Skulls had to make deals to get people to trade their health to win, which he did. That seemed to work well enough.
To help the SK survive, he was able to give other people the gameβs only priority attack, at the cost of 20 life. Perfect solution really, as these attacks couldnβt be used against him. Unfortunately, someone burning down the network head didnβt paint him in a good light.
Of course, like my last game, some of the cover roles that appeared I wish I had thought to include. I especially liked Mourns-for-Trees and Dalamar. Well, I probably wouldnβt have actually made Dalamar a role, but I was entertained as Dragonlance was one of my favorite book series.
Thanks for putting up with me while I had no power, and limited Internet access for a week. That was very obnoxious and I apologize again for that.
Finally and this isnβt really game related except to explain some of my absences earlier on, but wife is now pregnant! We were gone a lot of the early days to go to the doctor and tell family and such. Weβre pretty happy.
Please give me feedback and let me know what you liked and didnβt like.
Iβll also answer any questions. Feel free to post role PMs.
I really don't have to much to add,but it was a pleasure following along. Was obviously rooting for my fellow devils, and seeing their plans unfold was fun.
If rivs had actually pulled it off, she would go down in legend.
Thanks for running this, it was fun to follow and see whether the village was going to figure shit out or not. Good job hosting through a power outage!

This is basically how the Blarnfidel statpage games came about. "Jesus our games are just too hard to run manually."

I play the game a little differently than I would recommend for others solely because the actions of others with respect to me are unusual. I have to try weird shit just to survive a few days.
I like how people are geese when it comes to contacts. "I was talking to A first so I'm going to trust A instead of B and fuck trying to actually examine the situation or logic." Happens very frequently despite it being clear post-game that they should "learn their lesson."
I was beginning to be worry that you had normal win conditions and were just being creative.

Yeah, I think by the end there were too many masoned Devas left for the Devils or Demons to win with only one member left each. I was just trying to draw it out/confuse everyone.
What was the "Devil Hitsquad" and why didn't I get something similar? :P
I basically just won the game for everybody EXCEPT me. Thats a fine way to say thank you to the only person who finally figured out what Arivia was up too. And I always did what I was told! I was such a nice little devil.
I really wanted to, because the smaller the village got the more attractive your "kill devas and become a mafia" option would look.
The devils I was in contact with never told me they were devils. If I had known there were 5 left when I got the power I might have used it. Theres also the fact that staying neutral still would have let me win with them. Oh yeah IT WAS MY IDEA TO KILL THE DEVIL RETEBA! Flarne wanted to keep him alive because he was a "Deva"
Because Tmoiy was a goose and sent a message 26 minutes before day close while I was at work "oh hey, I'm gonna heal someone else, let me know if that is not okay."

All of the units that didn't have direct damage options got some kind of desperation if they were the last one left, you had the option to become something more powerful, so I didn't have that for your role.
I was partially afraid that Ariva was dead, and that pursuing that path could lead to her damaging a turn in the game
leading to potential mod action

good game, 38th.
massive props on the snow storm and no internet thing. And running this partially from a phone as well.
Huge congrats on the incoming baby.
Only thoughts on the game that I'm probably going to actually share.
Hey stever: Both replacements in this game were villagers. Suck it.
Also apologies to Ahava for getting you killed. I was telling the truth about you seering green, but for some reason no one believed me!
No one believed you because everyone was fairly suspicious that you were mafia for a few days at that point. Honestly the lack of any results at all from the "seers" late game was a pretty big tip off.
My friend is working on a roguelike game you can play if you want to. (It has free demo)
I do want to say im sorry to ecco. I asked you for a heal when I knew you were my vig target. I figured it would clever if you were evil but when you turned up green a felt like an ass.
Also day 13 I forgot to put in an order. Left the house thinking Id be back in time, so thats why Tmoiy still lived.

Heck of a thing to miss.
Particularly because I had 80 and flarne and baidol had like 50ish each and we were just planning on voting everyone else off until it was just us.
What was the "Devil Hitsquad" and why didn't I get something similar? :P

Just saying.
How come no one healed Infidel, btw?

If he said it that clearly we would have voted her out much sooner. We weren't that thick were we?
It was a great game 38th! Thanks for finally convincing me to play!
It was simple predicates. A -> B, B -> C, therefore A -> C kinda shit.
He made it as clear as a host should without actually interfering.
also because continuing to post after she died is totally within character for her.

Dead players are allowed to make one ghost post.
Arivia is allowed to make more than one ghost post.
Arivia is not dead.
Votes by dead people do not count.
Arivia's votes count.
It is pretty clear and blatantly gives a CD saying "here is the situation but of course I'm not going to directly comment on Arivia you goose."

kime: you and Langly were the only ones I leaked my guard story to. :P
SHOCKING
Also day 13 I forgot to put in an order. Left the house thinking Id be back in time, so thats why Tmoiy still lived.
What was the deal?
Basically, you would have gotten extra uses of your spells, more spells and at six the game's only Busdriver.
