Admittedly, you're the only Rachel I 'know', Janson.
Woo!
BTW, when Friends came out was your mom like, "Oh, god DAMMIT."
She was mostly god DAMMIT in the 80s, when Rachel in the UK really had its heyday, and she kept running into mothers of other Rachels
I don't remember Friends having much of an impact! Sure, it was popular, but my name was NEVER associated with Friends. I think either the names (like Rachel) were already popular, so people didn't think much of it, or they didn't get popular (Chandler?!)
Also, I think Friends benefited from appealing to a wider audience.

Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.
Just make sure whatever name you give her is a cool acronym when initialized. I know a girl who was given what everyone thought was a most beautiful name, until they realized quite a while later that the initials were A.S.S.
A friend just named their daughter "Nicole Avery D___, turns out her initials are N.A.D.s.
Worse than giving your kid a stripper name?
Old man, family, works too hard, locked into a routine, but still plays with army men and video games.
If you want to play League of Legends, here is my refer a friend: So I get points

I also like Miranda
There were actually more girl names than boy names that I liked when brainstorming for my kid's name

Eeeh at least people don't have to know your middle name
How often do you know a person's initials unless you're related to them, dating them, or steal their ID to look at?
My sister's initials are F.A.B., which is fine now. But she'll have to be careful not to become F.A.G. or F.A.T.

There is a very short list reasons I don't change my last name to my mother's
1) Money
2) My current last name is pretty cool once I forget that it's associate with my father
3) I really love my initials.
Initials are the best.

Not knowing means you have to do all the requisite planning (e.g. - painting, buying of clothes and toys) after the child is born.
I would imagine that'd be pretty difficult, which is why my wife and I wanted to know the gender of both our children right at week 20.
Well, I'm planning on doing that anyway
We wouldn't be doing any painting/decorating as we're renting
I've always preferred gender 'neutral' colours anyway (the twins' nursery was yellow/shades of green and was awesome)
Toys I won't buy until as and when needed, and as for clothes I'm intending to just stock up on really basic stuff at first
Worst comes to worst, my brother had some girly-looking clothes and looked utterly adorable (they were actually for boys, but were pretty old fashioned, so the clothes had a lot of lace and frilly bits and he was often mistaken for a girl)

Besides apologizing to the child.

This. This right here.
It doesn't matter what you want to call your baby. This is what your baby wants you to call it.

that team Edward wasn't even close, apparently

But yeah, suppose it didn't have much of an effect on names. Hairstyles on the other hand..

What was the name of his other leg?
Don't apologize, that was the intent of the setup.

Miranda, Beatrice, Cordelia, Viola, Tamora
Just have to avoid the connotations sometimes
Totally this
Or you get a bunch of gender-neutral stuff and that's annoying in its own way

For example, I like the names Terrance and Philip but uh... Yeah
Also Simon, until someone reminded me of the SNL sketch
