[Let's Play] Prince of Persia - The Warrior Within (S12 - Aug 14th)
Posts
Warrior Within is the only one with different endings.
You can do a similar attack with the secondary weapon, which is probably better if you're facing a group (the secondary moves seem to hit a wider area).
I'll watch these as soon as I'm back home and my girlfriend doesn't beg for attention..
Sorry the battle took so long, it didn't seem like there was any good way of dealing with her blocking. Strafing maybe?
Honestly, I'd have expected you to miss that first life upgrade; I didn't discover it until the third time through the game, I think.
One more thing: the secondary weapon icon flashing red inicates that it will disintegrate upon the next (successful?) hit. Different weapons last a different amount of time, deal different amounts of damage, and attack speed varies as well. You can have a look at the weapons you've found so far in the pause menu (as well as a combo list) which will tell you how useful each one is. General rule of thumb, slower weapons deal more damage and break quicker.
From strongest to weakest, the weapon types are as follows:
Maces > Axes > Swords > Daggers.
Throwing daggers (as opposed to throwing swords etc) deals extra damage IIRC.
The ranged ghoul things that fire their spikes at me get immediately killed by a thrown weapon.
Kinky assassin ladies it seems like wall abilities are the best option, since they seem to block most other things.
I think you can throw the assassin chicks as well.
Are you going for the good/bad ending? (basically, do you want to be told when you've missed a health upgrade?)
Good ending/full health is good, but the last boss is a lot harder.
Really? I always thought
Youtube Channel!
Or Klyka is using your internet connection to secretly take over the UK.
It's going to be such a long wait to get fibre-optic all the way out here in the boonies. 8(
Also, got lost at the end of this set. Not sure if I'm being dumb or if WW is just not so good at telling you where to go.
At least the objective tells me whether I'm heading for the past or present.
On the matter of sword-drawing, check out this guy, he has a video on drawing it from the back, from the opposite hip, and about the sound effects usually used in movies when someone draws / sheathes a bladed weapon. Oh, and a shitton of videos about other historical weaponry, and about swing dancing.
You are heading the right way; the hourglass is found in the throne room, which is through the big gigantic doors in the big gigantic room that led you to the boss fight against Shahdee.
At the start of the next set you'll have a chance to get a life upgrade (which you can still get later, but since you have the opportunity then...):
Slightly OT: The POP games are actually the only games where I prefer the German dub to the English dub. The guy who voices the prince, David Nathan, also does (almost) all the dubbing for Johnny Depp and Christian Bale (except in Pirates of the Caribbean 1 through 3, and in Public Enemies where he only voices Depp but not Bale). He has such a nice way of narrating things. Oh, and he also did a Call of C'thulhu audiobook, which is awesome.
Oh yeah, sorry about all the TL;DR comments, but I can't help but annotate lots and lots <_<
It's cool, long comments are interesting (and let me know people are watching!).
Turns out, he's threatening/taunting you backwards.
Accidentally found another health upgrade. And a wall I can't break yet. Also checked out the combo list and noticed I can counter-attack and counter-kick, which I might try out next set.
One thing I'd like to mention about the breakable wall: you will NEVER go back to that area unless you choose to do lots of pointless backtracking for either a secret weapon or some artwork (I can't remember which at the moment).
There is, however, at least one more location that features a breakable bit of obstacle, which leads to a life upgrade. You've already passed it, but won't be able to use it until much later (and again, it'll require a great deal of backtracking).
Nice set, as always. (Though Jim deserves a kick in the testicles...)
Oh god I'm addicted to riposte. Also, just curious, I assume because of the backtracking you can get all life upgrades even if you miss one the first time through so long as you don't start the final fight?
And valgo, I haven't opened the spoiler, so I will definitely go back and record whatever treasure awaits me once I can break through stone.
Oooh, seeing the results of your backtracking will be interesting.
1) On long beams, you don't actually have to balance all the way. Instead, you can just jump forward a few times in order to progress faster.
2) If someone (like the bats in SOT) decides that attacking the prince while he's not on the ground would be a swell idea, it is better to walk on the plank / beam / whatever, because: if you are shimmying and you get hit, you fall to your doom. If, however, you are balancing on the beam / plank / whatever, you only lose your balance and grab onto whatever you were balancing on top of.
If you encounter invisible ninja women again, remember where they died. They drop invisible weapons that are quite durable and powerful, IIRC.
There is ONE secret in one of the Dahaka chase sequences, and it's a secret weapon. I'll tell you when you get there, if you want to. It's quite easy to miss.
Also, remember that stone the Dahaka smashed near the end of this set? The model is still there, the stone hitbox isn't...
Finally turned on the tap, also found a health upgrade, missed a couple of art boxes (one I think I can get now, other looks a bit more difficult to get to).
At least you found the health upgrade.
To get to the artwork you saw high above the garden (one level below you) you'll have to go down to that level and just wallrun on that side of the room.
Glad to see you back anyway
Have I missed any life upgrades?
Funny how you find all the upgrades on your own, but it took you several minutes to work out how to get down at the beginning of the video.
The point of having the big guy break the counterweights was to get the rest of the weight to get pulled up a bit. As long as they're not broken, they hang too low for you to reach any of the plateaus you have to jump to.
And yeah; I'm pretty good at exploring when I spot something that looks like a secret to me, but chimneying down that chasm really didn't look possible until I tried it!
