Apparently the judge had to reprimand the viewers in the gallery. After Sandusky waived his hearing, the courtroom erupted into derisive laughter and snarking.

Actually, there would be. If you know the case is solid against you, antagonizing the court by insisting on a trial would just make things worse for you at sentencing.

And I don't buy that ending plea bargaining would grind the courts to a halt.

Do you know what the backlog for an average court is right now?

Because 9% think it's too high, and shouldn't be cut! 9% of respondents could not fully
get their arms around the question. There should be another box you can check for, "I

Seriously. Now I'm almost starting to feel bad for Sandusky.

Sandusky lawyer Joe Amendola: "If you believe [these accusations], you need to call 1-800-REALITY."

Which is a gay sex hotline. For real.

Also, choice bits from the post-fake-hearing news junket:

    - Sandusky: "This is the fight of my life, bigger than any game I've coached. I'm in this for all four quarters."

    - Lawyer Joe: These kids just want some of that fat Penn State settlement cash; "What greater motivation, folks, could there be than the financial motivation of saying, 'I'm a victim.'"

And then Lawyer Joe went on to make a joke about Sandusky's slow manner of speaking, marked by frequent pauses, as being on purpose because NBC was paying them by the second for the interview.

At this point, I'm fairly sure Sandusky would get better representation from the Hyperchicken.

I think Sandusky would actually be better off representing himself.

Is Sandusky under some sort of guard at the moment? I'd be amazed if he didn't try to kill himself before the whole trainwreck goes to court.

    Yes, I am still angry

I think the flaw with this view, is that by all accounts, Sandusky doesn't think he did anything wrong. He is seriously all kinds of fucked in the head (even beyond the whole raping kids thing). I think he honestly believes that everything he does helps kids and they want him to do it.

So apparently Sandusky's lawyer held a news conference in which he told everyone who believed Sandusky was guilty to call 1-800-REALITY.

1-800-REALITY is a gay sex line.

At this point I think either Sandusky's going for some kind of bad representation defense at the appeal of his inevitable guilty verdict, or his lawyer is doing the greatest troll ever.

Maybe, or maybe not but it would bankrupt the United States to do it. The whole judicial system would have to be reworked.

So you would waive your right to a trial in hopes of getting a lighter sentence... like a plea bargain?

Sandusky's Lawyer is arguing that he was just teaching them how to shower properly. No, this is not a joke:
Some of these kids don't have basic hygiene skills. Teaching a person to shower at the age of 12 or 14 sounds strange to some people, but people who work with troubled youth will tell you there are a lot of juvenile delinquents and people who are dependent who have to be taught basic life skills like how to put soap on their body.

Now to be fair to his moronic other lawyer, this is a new lawyer who is apparently equally as retarded.

Because they are now flat out admitting Sandusky was showering with the children, and thats not a good place to be in a "did he molest them trial."

Props from the comments on that article for "Wince and repeat."

I don't see how this is anything other than an admission of guilt.

He truely has the worst representation in the world. Central to any allegation of molestation is proving the accused had access and opportunity, by going with the "He was teaching them how to clean themselves" defense they just proved he had them both. Not to mention its completely freaking assinine to say that 10 year olds don't know how to shower themselves properly. WHAT THE F KIND OF DEFENSE IS THAT?!

This is the second time I've heard someone make this claim in college football in the last... 15 months? Derek Dooley at Tennessee after some players got staph infections decided to teach his players "shower discipline." So this might be a weird football culture thing.

Of course, presumably Dooley wasn't hands on, so to speak.

My cousin made this game: Gem Pop. It's legitimately fun, particularly for people who enjoy Bejewled, Dr. Mario, Tetris, etc. kinds of games. Only two bucks! If you try it out, PM me with what you think of it.

So tomorrow will (hopefully) be informative as to what the fuck really happened with the PSU administration. All indications are that Schultz and Curley are going to fight to have their charges thrown out, which means we'll get testimonies from them, as well as probably McQuerey and maybe even a written statement from Paterno.

The other bit of analysis that came up over on BSD. Contrary to the GJ summary, you cannot actually see into the shower area directly from the locker room. There is a tiled toweling area that connects the two, and it would match at least one of the stories that the McQuerey saw the boy stick his head into that area while at his locker.

But as for actually witnessing the rape, he would have had to have moved into the shower area to actually view it. He could not have seen it from his locker as stated in the summary.

  • PreacherPreacher Registered User regular
Wow coward, fucking liar, and buck passer, Mike Mcqueary everyone!

McQueary says he peeked in the shower several times -- and by the last time, they had separated. But McQueary told the court, "I know they saw me. They looked directly in my eye, both of them."

"Seeing that they were separated, I thought it was best that I leave the locker room," he explained.

And lets not forget if you go to the comptroller of your city, its totally the same thing as going to the police.

When asked why he didn't report the incident to police, McQueary explained that he had spoken with PSU Vice President Gary Schultz and felt that was good enough because Schultz oversaw the campus police.

"I thought I was talking to the head of the police, to be frank with you," McQueary said. "In my mind it was like speaking to a [district attorney]. It was someone who police reported to and would know what to do with it."

Sad part is that second statement is straight out of a lot of apologists mouths even when its absolutely wrong. Schultz's office provides the funding for the police thats it, Schultz is not, has not been, nor will ever be a part of the police organization on campus, anymore than any of your local city council, comptroller, or mayor is considered a police officer. As a grown god damn man he should and probably did know that.

I do like how in McQueary's testimony he admits at one point he didn't go to the police because it was "delicate" and then claims Schultz is the same thing, also when he originally called Paterno, Paterno suspected it was about a job opening and told him he didn't have one (and yet McQueary after this incident got one later... curious).
