Wireless Printing with i devices?

The apple sale offers printers with wireless printing from idevices. Do I need an apple wifi router to use that functionality? I'd google but all I have today is a smartphone.

    Just to confirm: absolutely not. You just need the two devices to be on the same wifi network.

    I've even done it without a router using an adhoc network and statically-defined IPs.
