Serious Business Cup 2012 - Season 2

t4Ghk.jpg

Race Format

Once again this will be a multi-class event. The first class is Touring Classic and consists of RWD cars from 1975-1995 and will be B500.

The second class is Sports Challenge and consists of more powerful sports cars and supercars generally around S class (see below).

Participants will be required to have one car for each class as we will be racing them both each week.

Each race night we will divide into an even number of drivers in each class.

There will be a quallifying session before each race.

Race Night begins with Qualifying Session A. All racers qualify with their Sports Challenge car. The Lobby will be set to random grid order with a 5 second roll-off delay and collisions turned off. There will be 3 total laps. After this session the lobby will be set to a grid order of Lobby Points, thus setting the grid in the order of the qualifying session. The top half of qualifying racers will then start in Sports Challenge while the bottom half will start in Touring Classic.

The race will be a set number of laps designed to last approximately 30 minutes.

After the first race the lobby will be restarted (thus erasing the lobby points) and Qualifying Sesson B will take place on the same track. All racers qualify with their Touring Classic car. This will determine the starting order for Race 2. The top half of qualifying racers will then start in Touring Classic while the bottom half will start in Sports Classic. Because a Racer could perform poorly or very well in different qualifying sessions it is concievable they would race in the same class twice.

As before there will be a gentleman's agreement to have only one player in each model of car.

Teams are not a requirement but if you want to unofficially have a teammate you may. We will attempt to have a fairly even number of drivers in each class for each race.

Racing liveries are not required other than the number plates made by oldmanken80 (they're on his storefront) must be on the left and right side of the car, and your number must be on the rear and front/hood of the car.

Because we dont take this as seriously as some series, Part loadouts are not set in stone and you may change them for each race with one exception (see below).

cleaned up the car list a bit. also added 2 cars that are eligable (430 Scuderia, Gallardo Superlegerra). Also I'm making the executive decision to ban the RS200 since its practically a joke car.

Hopefully we can figure out what exactly we are doing with the team setup soon, it sounds like an interesting concept, but I have no idea how we would actually choose the teams. It would be interesting perhaps to draw teams out of a hat, but it would be hard to guarantee that person would show up on tuesday or thursday.

I can't commit time to it, since my work/sleep schedule changes a lot. I can possibly make a few of them.

Heh, with the Gallardo Superlegerra included and counting my Italia I will now have 5 options for this week. Those two are my normal S-classers. I made up a R8, F40 (or was it F50, whichever starts with lower PI) and RGT-8 to varying degrees of success as well. The R8 has a lot of slide issues for a AWD and the other two have understeer issues that I can't seem to fix without it going tail happy.

So wait, I'm confused. What exactly are we doing this week? supercars or manufacturers or what?

Supercars. Manufacturers were for a future, uncertain event.

This weekend I fell in love with the Ferrari Dino.

I tweaked it out to B500 for KotM and Cross.

It handles nicely, but has a uninspiring engine. The torque curve is more of a flat line, and the car will get left in the dust on any kind of a straight.

    It does look fantastic though.

Well the problem with the Dino isn't really its horsepower.. it's just equipped with a sluggish engine. There's other cars out there with comparable horsepower that are much more exciting to drive.

Obviously upgrades can help this, but other cars get upgrades too and I think they still outpace the Dino.

Yeah, its not a top end car, but I like its it for nimbleness and being narrow for fitting through barriers and getting around the KotM traffic cars.

It actually felt better as a C car, but I bumped it to B for the Rivals challenge.

DLC car list for next week:

    2011 Monster Sport Suzuki SX4
    2011 Mazda RX-8 R3
    2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor
    1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS-396
    1977 Ford Escort RS1800
    1981 Volkswagen Scirocco S
1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio Verde
    1988 Pontiac Fiero GT
    2010 Maserati GranTurismo MC GT4
    1957 Maserati 300 S

That's actually a pretty impressive list, they did a good job avoiding filler this time around.

The Fiero will be a fun gag car.. I'm drooling over the Scirocco.

  • LTMLTM Registered User regular
LOL, the Fiero will be sweet.

I keep hoping there will be a Chevy Van. We've already got the Delorean and the old Charger, and I need the van to add to my stable of classic TV cars.

Once again, I'm sadly underwhelmed, but that's to be expected. I tend to prefer exotics. The Suzuki and RX-8 are nice though. At least it's not a total loss.

If that Fiero doesn't have a ridiculous Ferrari or Lambo body kit option, I will be sorely disappointed.

I'm sad that my XBL points that were stolen still haven't been refunded. I can't buy anything on the store. I want the December pack.

The Burnese Alps one that we restarted - I wish I had a replay of that. I saw one car go sideways in front and I managed to get around him and I'm all "I got this, I'm through" And then I bumped a car beside me (Or he bumped me), I started to slide, got rammed hard on that side and then rammed again on the other side and my car started rolling.

Oh, and Justin, when you bump drafted me on that first track you knocked off my spoiler! My car was floating after that and I could hardly drive it. :(

Whoever that was that got a call during that last race, you jinxed me. Right as you said that my phone starts ringing. Had to stop myself from laughing with the stuff you guys were saying.

And Bast, you definitely need to lengthen those gears. Bouncing off the limiter on near every corner.

I did start to get the hang of that car towards the end, but it took 3 laps before it felt even close to normal. Slightest touch was giving snap oversteer, rear tires locking up under braking. Yet I thought it was AWD that first lap because it was also understeering midcorner. Not how I would set up the car, but if it works for you...

I wasnt joking when I said that it drove like shit on cold tires
