DBR1 or keep the Aston Martini from the Targa? Can't decide.

You know, I'd like to see if anyone would do this series with no Race components whatsoever. Anything Sport or below is fine. It helps keep the cars from being too similar and gives each of the nationalities a distinct feel.

I'd be down for that, if we can all get to B500 with no race upgrades

oh, well then if we can all hit B450 with no race upgrades

  • Knight_Knight_ Registered User regular
B450 is impossible if we're doing a tire restriction to Sport like we talked about, since one of the Ferraris starts at 440. Also, is there any particular reason you want to limit it to sport parts only? It's not like we're all running the same car and want to be on equal footing. I mean, I know why Scatman wants it because he wants to stick more horsepower onto his car, but when you're driving 60's era cars it's nice being able to fix some of the horribly glaring deficiencies :/

    lWKOs.jpg
  • oldmankenoldmanken Registered User regular
I say sport tires should be the only restriction. Maybe we can put in a weight minimum or a HP max?

  • VeeveeVeevee Registered User regular
haha, limiting the HP in scatman's goat? You are a mean person

I'm not sure how much a few of these cars weigh, but I doubt it.

Pretty sure the Austin-Healey is still above that weight.

Min weight on the Austin is ~2200lbs I doubt any of the cars on the list will go much below 2000.

I have yet to commit to the T-Bird, and after last nights flip fest I'm unsure whether I am more or less likely... :)

I'm not sure we need much in the way of restrictions, as everything seemed pretty competitive last night.

If I had had an engine left after the first roll, I would attempted to get back over and keep the 3-flipped-in-one-spot spectacle going.

So we should lay the rules down. Should we just do it similar to the Targa, but with different tracks? I think everyone had a good time in that series.

    Settle down folks...

OK, here's how it's going to be:

    B-class 500
    Sport tires
    1500lb minimum weight
    No Engine or Drive swaps

Everything else is fine, and I'll come up with a track list and rule set shortly. Suggestions on race length welcome... I was thinking 30-40 mins.

    I'll do the 1965 Jag D-Type.

I have no idea about that car, but it's radically different than anything I've driven yet, so I guess we'll see.

  • oldmankenoldmanken Registered User regular
I've been working on my cars paint job, and have settled on a Newfoundland (where I am from) theme for the E-Type. I'm happy with the results thus far, but I need to figure out what I want to do on the sides, and how I am going to do the numbers.

Labradorian, actually... though born on the island. I've never really had the accent, and I've lived away for so long (Ontario, Alberta, Korea, and now California) that I can't even put on an accent anymore.

That said, every so often I'll pop out with a "Yes b'ye!" or a "'ow you gettin' on?" :)

Is there a generic car thread somewhere on the forum? I know there used to be one, but I can't seem to find one that is still active.
