That media hype puts too much emphasis on Nash's age and his statistical "decline." Nash hasn't declined at all his team has. Put him on a contender and his efficiency will ensure awesome numbers worth paying for and I think enough teams know that and will outbid Miami.

Unless Miami gets rid of Bosh or something.

What in the world would make you think Steve Nash would sign with the Heat? Everything he's ever said or done makes that the least likely scenario not to mention that they couldn't compete with any other contender willing to pay him a decent salary.

    i dunno he's expressed mild interest http://espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/miamiheat/story/_/id/7752775/steve-nash-listen-miami-heat-free-agent

obviously that is a fairly tepid comment, but i would not be shocked if nash went to the heat. completely broken-hearted, but not surprised.

mark cuban has made one unforgivable decision as owner of the mavs, and that's when he was unwilling to pay nash for a new contract because he was getting 'too old'

cue trading for kidd shortly thereafter

I think It's clear Cuban didn't know what he had in Nash and there's no doubt he regrets letting him walk.

As for the mild Miami interest, Nash strikes me as a guy that won't burn a bridge before it's built even if that means creating a little bit of a media frenzy.

yeah no doubt nash is a smart guy who has been in the league long enough (and spent the past several years fielding comments about how much better he is than his team without turning it into a hostile locker room) that he knows how to play the game

Well. If the Jazz are going to make any sort of playoff push, they got to figure out something tonight against Spurs.

Earl Watson out indefinitely with torn meniscus, C.J. Miles out a week with calf strain, Paul Millsap still has flu, and we just signed Blake Ahearn for 10 days off the D-League (to start Wednesday, not tonight).

On the other hand? Duncan, Parker, and Ginobli all stayed home because Popovich wanted them to rest. They didn't even fly up to sit on the bench and watch. I think the last time he made a rest move like this, the Blazers blew out the Spurs by 40. Apparently he's perfectly fine with ending the win streak tonight, but considering what's going on with the Jazz, whether that actually happens is still doubtful.

Not too concerned by Pop sitting the players and the loss. 10+ game win streaks are nice to brag about, but don't mean squat. Jazz barely beat the bench.

That pleases me. Give the Big 3 their rest.

And getting into the playoffs would be nice-ish, but my main goal for the year was for Utah to have a better record than Portland. That's basically it.

Well I don't think I have any Blazers on my team

Good game Phone, you whooped me in the semis. So it's you two guys in the Finals?

I gotta figure out who your real life favorite teams are for the prize.

Peen is a Sixer fan right, and you Phone, Jazz?

keyon dooling notwithstanding, i am starting to really love this year's celtics team

obviously winning has helped, but stiemsma, bradley and even pavlovic have been awesome to watch the last couple of weeks, garnett is having his best year since they won the title, rondo has been playing out of his mind, and they're doing it all despite a ridiculous number of freak injuries to their bench

and provided pietrus can come back from the concussion without any ill effects, giving them a pretty good 8-9 man rotation, i am actually talking myself into their chances in the playoffs

there was a thing on espn.com the other day about how the celtics defense since the all-star break is basically unmatched in recent nba history, based on league average points per possession v their points allowed per possession (i believe)

i'm starting to feel something approaching cautious hope.

smacking down the Heat in Miami might have something to do with that...

i just went back to his draft to look at his peers to get a sense of where they're at, but i got distracted by the fact that good god the 98 draft was terrible: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1998_NBA_Draft

Figures. Same day I drop $180 on a lower-level row-A seat to Jazz @ Blazers next week, Utah gives up a 13-0 run at the end of the fourth and hands New Orleans their 17th win of the season.

A route to the playoffs is still technically alive, but almost no room for error now and they need to win games they're supposed to lose.
