Name for a kind of word puzzle

I've recently gotten into Scrabble and crossword puzzles and I was wondering if there is a such thing as a word puzzle like a crossword but that is perfectly square with no blacked out squares
Like a mix of a crossword puzzle and sudoku
Does such a thing exist?
Does it have a name?

There's the "find words" thingie, but I guess you mean puzzles that aren't already filled?

Yeah, Empty boxes
Meant to be completely filled and horizontal and vertical all make words
I wonder if that's even possible

Generally no

The reason crosswords have boxes is that making a puzzle with 16+ letter words or more squared is pretty much impossible. And a lot less fun. Hard to put in 2-6 letter words if all your words must equal the length of the board.

A 4x4 box would be doable but probably gets boring after a while...
