I was looking for stuff about those titles that appear on the screen with your coin/VR totals earlier and found someone mentioning that the different gliders do actually do different things

specifically, I believe they mentioned that the parasol was more sensitive to movement in the air so it gave better control

but yeah I haven't actually tested any of this so I don't know if that's all true

ok according to this chart the gliders differ on stats you can't see

the parasol and flower have twice as much "sky handling" as the swooper and paraglider while the latter two have better speed in the air, all four modify your drift boosts a little

the standard/gold/beast gliders have no handling to speak of but are the fastest gliders and I guess slightly affect drifting somehow

edit: just noticed that that chart has no negative values unlike the official one for the various wheels and bodies and gliders, so I guess it can't be read the same way

edit2: here is a little java thing that shows stats just like the game does and now I have spent far too long looking for stuff that is really no more than trivia as it will likely not factor in to any kart building decisions I make

fireflowers remain the most annoying item next to lightning

every time someone near me gets one I get hit at least 3 times and lose all my coins

yeah once you hit 1000 it drops to 200 per part

then when you hit 2000 it drops to 500 per and stays there up through 5000

I have finally hit 4500 so I am almost halfway there in a way

it gets better

the two hardest to get unlockables (which don't seem to actually be very good) are 10000 and 20000 coins

the first can also be done with 100 street passes, but that's never going to happen, and second can also be done by getting 10000 VR in online races which is probably a faster way to get it

I loved Double Dash when I got it but now, if I try to go back, it's like MK 64 in that the physics and controls are so completely different that none of my driving strategies work anymore and then I wind up struggling to win 50cc races
