For the final in my Religion in Film course in college I wrote about Chronicles of Riddick.

It was a very fun paper to write.

Things I dislike about the movie. (from what I remember)

The plot.

The style choices.

The acting (Vin doesn't count, he's as good as he can be but everyone is horrid)

The stupid Sarah Connor like transformation the girl from the previous movie went through.

The sun fire planet thing was OK I guess?

Because all I know is Starbuck is involved and some Anubis dog monsters may be hunting Riddick.

Another rumor is it'll just be titled "Riddick" which I like a lot more. And here's the synopsis:

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

So what I gather from that is Vaako somehow fucks him over and becomes the new Grand Marshall and then ditches him on some planet. Riddick does his thing for a while, Vaako finds out he's alive and comes back to the planet he left him on to finish the job personally. Either that or Riddick grabs a merc ship and tracks the necromongers down.

Looks like they're trying to get back to what worked the first time and forget that any of Chronicles ever happened

CoR was so bad and ended so bad.

There were a lot of really, really stupid things in CoR (like the furyan shockwave and terribly edited fights) but I thought the ending scene was awesome.

The only thing I remember from CoR was him accidentally falling on the throne and becoming king. Which I still say is a hilarious way to end a movie. The fact that the movie itself is supposed to be really bad has kept me from rewatching it.

Maybe when three is released or they get it on netflix I'll give it a go.

I mean you're sort of right. Pretty much their whole culture was built on the idea that you keep what you kill. So riddick killed their king god emperor guy. Then while grieving the dead girl he sits down on the throne, then realizes that oh goodness everyone is bowing to me
